The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R-001 is a 39mm rose-gold automatic dress watch with an ivory lacquer dial, a date window and a hinged cover over its sapphire caseback. Patek Philippe marks this reference discontinued on its website, checked September 10, 2026. That status does not establish the availability, condition or price of any individual watch.
For a purchase, the important distinction is between the reference specification and the particular example offered. Movement generation, dated papers, case and hinge condition, service history and payment terms should all be established before comparing prices.

324 S C or 26-330 S C: check the actual movement
The 5227 launched in 2013 with calibre 324 S C. Patek's original press release lists a 38–48-hour power reserve. Its later 5227R-001 page lists calibre 26-330 S C, and the manufacturer's 2023 Tokyo exhibition catalogue also names that movement for this reference. These sources establish different published generations; they do not establish a precise serial-number changeover.
Ask for a legible photograph through the display back and a written statement of the fitted calibre. Compare those with the supplied documentation and service records. A purchase date alone does not prove which movement is inside. If a seller's description and photographs disagree, resolve that discrepancy before treating the watch as a comparable offer.
The original construction also matters when evaluating condition: the 2013 manufacturer release describes curved flutes running from the case sides into the lugs and a carefully fitted dust cover. Ask for close photographs of those contours and a short video of the cover opening and closing. Do not force an unfamiliar cover. The later movement is documented in the 2023 manufacturer catalogue.
5227R-001 price examples checked September 10, 2026
Three public seller pages showed different types of dollar-denominated prices when we checked them on September 10, 2026. SwissLuxury displayed $44,955, or $43,606 by wire; Watches Off 5th displayed $44,000; Arda & Co. displayed a $39,700 sourcing price. These are page observations, not confirmed offers for inspected watches. The amounts reproduce each site's dollar display without currency conversion.
| Seller page | Price and terms observed | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| SwissLuxury 5227R-001 | $44,955 regular price; $43,606 wire price; an order button. | Availability of a specific watch, its year, condition, included documents and final delivered cost. |
| Watches Off 5th 5227R-001 | $44,000 displayed; wire pricing available on request; an add-to-cart button. | The wire amount, the offered watch's year and condition, included documents and current availability. |
| Arda & Co. 5227R-001 | $39,700 sourcing price; described as new, 2024, with box and papers. The page also discloses a 5–10% sourcing fee and a 3% card fee. | Whether the displayed amount includes the sourcing fee, the final payment total and the specific watch available to source. |
At SwissLuxury, the displayed regular-to-wire difference was $1,349. Arda's bank-wire and credit-card buttons showed the same $39,700 amount despite the separate card-fee notice, so that display alone does not establish the final card total. These examples show why payment terms belong beside the headline price.
This is a small, deliberately selected snapshot, not a market-price range or a matched comparison of identical-condition watches. We did not inspect the watches, contact the sellers, place orders or establish completed-sale prices. An order button does not independently confirm stock. Missing details remain unresolved; request a dated written offer identifying the exact watch, currency, fees, delivery cost and terms before comparing it with another offer.
How to compare a 5227R-001 price
A useful price comparison starts with several currently available offers for the exact reference. Record when each seller confirmed availability. An asking price is a seller's proposal; it is not a completed sale, an appraisal or a guarantee of resale value. Discontinuation by itself does not show that a price will rise.
| Compare | What to request |
|---|---|
| Watch and movement | Full reference, fitted calibre and photographs of the specific watch |
| Condition | Written wear and polishing disclosure; case, dial, cover, buckle and strap photographs |
| Documentation | An itemized list of supplied papers, boxes and accessories; dated service records if available |
| Price basis | Currency and payment method, with shipping, insurance, taxes and any import costs identified |
| Transaction terms | Availability, delivery timing, inspection arrangements, return terms and seller warranty in writing |
Separate missing information from an actual defect. An unlisted service history means the history is unresolved; it does not prove the watch has never been serviced. Likewise, “full set” needs an itemized explanation, and “unworn” does not establish a recent production date, complete documentation or a current manufacturer warranty.
For a sourcing request, start with the 5227R-001 catalogue listing and request a current written offer with these details. Confirm the watch and terms before making a purchase decision.
5227R-001 versus 6119G-001
The choice is partly about how you use the watch. The 5227R combines automatic winding and a date with a rose-gold case and ivory dial. The 6119G-001 offers a different layout: white gold, a charcoal-gray dial, small seconds and a hobnail bezel, with manual winding and no date. Patek lists the 6119G at 39mm by 8.08mm with a 65-hour reserve.
These are different ownership choices, rather than interchangeable price comparisons. Try the case, strap fit and crown operation where possible; diameter alone cannot predict comfort on your wrist. Read our 6119G-001 buying guide and the manufacturer's 6119G specifications, or compare references in the Calatrava collection.
Before choosing an example
Choose the watch whose condition, documentation and total purchase terms you can establish. A clean dial photograph alone is insufficient to authenticate a watch, and a reference guide cannot replace inspection of the offered example. Request a qualified inspection when originality or mechanical condition is uncertain.
If you are comparing offers, send the full reference, quoted amount and currency, stated condition, papers date and your delivery country through our contact page. Leave full serial numbers and personal documents out of an initial enquiry.
