A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus 363.179 in stainless steel with a dark-blue dial, outsize date and day-of-week display

Short answer: The Odysseus is A. Lange & Söhne's sports watch, launched in 2019 as the sixth Lange watch family. The core model, reference 363.179, has a 40.5 mm stainless steel case water-resistant to 120 m, a dark-blue dial with Lange's outsize date and a day-of-week display, and the self-winding calibre L155.1 DATOMATIC. Lange also lists it in white gold with a grey dial (363.068), in titanium with an ice-blue dial (363.117, 250 pieces) and in Honeygold with a brown dial (363.150, 100 pieces), plus the 42.5 mm Odysseus Chronograph 463.178 (100 pieces). Lange quotes prices only on request; on October 19, 2026 Bizak asks started at $59,999 for the steel 363.179 and $47,999 for the white gold 363.068; see the Odysseus collection.

Every Odysseus reference

Lange's US site has pages for six Odysseus references: five three-hand models in four metals, one of them (363.038) no longer in the current collection, and one chronograph.

Every three-hand Odysseus has the same dimensions, 40.5 mm wide and 11.1 mm high, with a sapphire caseback. Lange makes the blue, grey and ice-blue dials of brass, which is why some listings call the titanium model's dial “brass ice-blue”: brass is the material, ice-blue the colour.

What sets the Odysseus apart

  • A case built for sport. Lange designed the Odysseus to be worn in leisure and sports settings and gave it what it calls comparatively high water resistance: 12 bar. Brushed surfaces meet chamfered edges, a finish repeated on the bracelet links.
  • Outsize date plus the day. The outsize date was the new Lange company's first patent, filed in 1992 and used two years later on three of its first four watches. On the Odysseus it sits at 3 o'clock opposite a large day-of-week window at 9, both set with the tapered pushers on the case.
  • A movement made for it. Lange developed the L155.1 DATOMATIC for the Odysseus. The balance is held beneath its bridge for rate stability, and each balance bridge is hand-engraved with a wave pattern, which Lange says makes every Odysseus unique. The rotor has a 950 platinum outer mass, turns on seven ceramic balls and winds in one direction, and like every Lange calibre the movement is assembled twice.
  • A bracelet you can fine-tune. The steel, titanium and Honeygold bracelets adjust by about 7 mm in the safety deployant buckle without opening it, and links can be added or removed.

The Odysseus Chronograph 463.178

Shown at Watches and Wonders 2023 after six years of development, the Odysseus Chronograph carries the L156.1 DATOMATIC. Lange has built chronographs since 1999, but this is its first self-winding chronograph movement. Both chronograph hands sit in the centre, so the outsize date and day keep their places and there are no counters at 3 and 9 o'clock. The reset is unusual: under 30 minutes, the minute hand jumps back while the red seconds hand spins back over the distance it travelled, one full turn per measured minute; past 30 minutes, both hands run forward to zero. With the screw-down crown in, the pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock start, stop and reset; with the crown pulled, they set the date and day. The steel 463.178 has a black dial with a red 60 at 12 o'clock and a red chronograph seconds hand, white gold baton markers and a palladium-coloured flange, and is limited to 100 watches.

It is the only chronograph in our Odysseus collection; the hand-wound Datograph and 1815 chronographs are in the A. Lange & Söhne collection.

Titanium and Honeygold: the limited three-hand models

The titanium 363.117 arrived at Watches and Wonders 2022 as Lange's first titanium watch. It pairs an ice-blue dial with a titanium bracelet and uses a customised L155.1 with a new balance bridge and an oscillation system that, Lange says, makes it less susceptible to shocks. It is limited to 250 pieces, sold only in Lange boutiques.

The Odysseus Honeygold 363.150 followed at Watches and Wonders 2025. Its case and solid bracelet are in Honeygold, Lange's own gold alloy, with a brown dial and a deployant buckle in Honeygold and white gold, and it is limited to 100 pieces.

Odysseus prices in 2026

A. Lange & Söhne publishes no Odysseus prices: its US site shows “price upon request” for every reference, and the steel and white gold models are sold only in Lange boutiques. On October 19, 2026 Bizak asks ran from $47,999 for the white gold 363.068 on rubber to $249,999 for the Honeygold 363.150. The steel 363.179, at $59,999, asked more than the white gold model, and the limited editions asked more than twice (titanium), three times (Chronograph) and four times (Honeygold) the steel price.

Buying an Odysseus: what to check

  • Match the full reference. The 363.068 on rubber and the 363.038 on brown leather share the white gold case and grey dial; the limited editions are the 363.117 (250 pieces), 363.150 (100) and 463.178 (100).
  • See the booklet. Every Lange comes with “The History of Your Watch”; its first page holds the guarantee seal or card, dated, stamped and signed by the authorised seller. Lange's guarantee runs two years from purchase, with a third year for boutique purchases registered online.
  • Get the whole bracelet. Ask for any removed links, and check that the buckle's 7 mm fine adjustment works.
  • Test the pushers. The day and date should advance cleanly; on the Chronograph, start, stop and reset with the crown screwed in.
  • Proof of origin. For watches made after 1990, Lange's service can issue a fee-based proof of origin when the watch is presented at a Lange boutique.

How big is the Odysseus, and is it water-resistant?

The three-hand Odysseus is 40.5 mm wide and 11.1 mm high; the Odysseus Chronograph is 42.5 mm wide and 14.2 mm high. Both are water-resistant to 12 bar (120 m) and have a sapphire caseback.
