Rolex Explorer

Rolex equipped the 1953 British Everest expedition with Oyster Perpetual watches, and the Explorer name followed that year. The Rolex Explorer is the minimalist's Rolex — a 36 mm or 40 mm three-handed Oyster with the iconic 3-6-9 dial layout. The Explorer II adds a 24-hour bezel and the distinctive "Polar" white dial, born for polar expeditions. Bizak & Co. carries Explorer 124270 (36 mm), 224270 (40 mm), and Explorer II 226570 references.

About the Rolex Explorer

Born from the Everest 1953 expedition. The cleanest dial in Rolex's catalog — 3, 6, 9 numerals, Mercedes hands, no date. The Explorer II 226570 in Polar (white) is one of the most distinctive Rolexes outside of Stella territory.
