The Audemars Piguet 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02 is the stainless steel Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph in 42 mm with the "Panda" dial: white Méga Tapisserie with three black counters, black Arabic numerals and red accents, on a black alligator strap with a folding buckle. It runs on the self-winding calibre 3126/3840 and is listed from $19,883.

What sets the 26170ST "Panda" apart

  • The Panda dial. Collectors call a light dial with dark counters a Panda. Here the white dial carries three black chronograph counters, black Arabic numerals, a red chronograph seconds hand and a tachymeter scale on the flange, with the date at 3 o'clock. The 26170ST.OO.D101CR.01 is the same watch with dial 01, black with orange accents.
  • The case. 42 mm stainless steel with the octagonal bezel and its eight hexagonal screws, rubber-coated crown and pushers, and water resistance to 100 m. The first Offshore set these proportions in 1993, when the largest Royal Oak measured 36 mm.
  • Calibre 3126/3840. The 26170 succeeded the 25721, the first Royal Oak Offshore, and replaced its Jaeger-LeCoultre-based movement with calibre 3126/3840: a self-winding base movement developed and made by Audemars Piguet, with a chronograph module by Dubois-Dépraz. It measures 29.9 mm by 7.16 mm and has a 50-hour power reserve.
  • Its place in the line. In 2014 the 26470 replaced the 42 mm Offshore chronographs. Audemars Piguet no longer lists the 26170 on its website, so it is bought on the secondary market.

How to read 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02

Code Meaning
26170 The model: Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph, 42 mm
ST Stainless steel case (TI is titanium, OR pink or rose gold)
OO Standard finish
D101CR The strap: D a folding buckle (A marks a pin buckle), 101 the strap colour code, CR alligator leather
02 The dial version: 02 is this white Panda dial, 01 the black dial

On bracelet models the strap code gives way to the bracelet number and metal, as in 26170ST.OO.1000ST.01: bracelet 1000 in steel.

Checks before you pay the balance

  • The case number. Audemars Piguet engraves a case number and a movement number on each watch and records both in its registers; ask for the case number with the watch-specific photos.
  • Dial and hands. Ask for daylight photos of the white dial, the black counters and the red chronograph hand, where marks or discolouration show.
  • Crown and pushers. On the 26170 they are rubber-coated metal; check the coating in the photos and ask whether they were replaced at a service.
  • Strap and buckle. The reference specifies an alligator strap with a folding buckle; ask whether the strap and buckle fitted are Audemars Piguet's.
  • Box and papers. Ask which box, papers and service records come with the watch offered.

Learn More

Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak Offshore at the 1993 Basel Fair. Dierk Wettengel, then in charge of the German market, had asked for a watch inspired by offshore powerboat racing, and the young designer Emmanuel Gueit gave it a 42 mm case 14.05 mm thick, at a time when the largest Royal Oak measured 36 mm. It was one of the first chronographs water-resistant to 100 m, with rubber-coated pushers and a soft iron cage against magnetic fields, and retailers nicknamed it "the Beast".

The first Offshore, the 25721, paired a Jaeger-LeCoultre base movement with a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module; Audemars Piguet delivered 10,896 of them between 1993 and 2016. Its successor, the 26170, moved to calibre 3126/3840, whose base movement was developed and made by Audemars Piguet, while Dubois-Dépraz supplied the chronograph module. Audemars Piguet's records show 13,562 calibre 3126/3840 movements made from 2007 to 2014.

From 2004 the 42 mm Offshore wore the large-square Méga Tapisserie dial, which the 26170 kept. In 2014 the 26470 replaced it, with the same 42 mm size and calibre but black ceramic crown and pushers. Only in 2021 did the Offshore receive chronograph calibres developed and made entirely by Audemars Piguet, the integrated 4401 and 4404.

FAQ

1. What is the Audemars Piguet 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02?
The stainless steel Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph in 42 mm with the "Panda" dial: white Méga Tapisserie with three black counters, black Arabic numerals and red accents, on a black alligator strap with a folding buckle. It runs on the self-winding calibre 3126/3840 and is water-resistant to 100 m.

2. Why is the 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02 called the Panda?
Collectors call a light dial with dark counters a "Panda". This 26170 pairs a white dial with three black chronograph counters. The 26170ST.OO.D101CR.01 is the same watch with dial 01: black, with orange accents.

3. What do the letters in 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02 mean?
In Audemars Piguet's reference system, 26170 is the model, ST the steel case and OO the standard finish. D101CR describes the strap: D a folding buckle (A marks a pin buckle), 101 the strap colour code and CR alligator leather. The final 02 is the dial version.

4. What movement is in the Audemars Piguet 26170?
Calibre 3126/3840: a self-winding base movement developed and made by Audemars Piguet, with a chronograph module by Dubois-Dépraz. It measures 29.9 mm by 7.16 mm, has a 50-hour power reserve and shows the hours, minutes, date and chronograph. It replaced the Jaeger-LeCoultre-based calibres of the first Offshore, the 25721.

5. Is the Audemars Piguet 26170 discontinued?
Yes. The 26470 replaced the 42 mm Offshore chronographs in 2014, and Audemars Piguet no longer lists the 26170 on its website, so it is bought on the secondary market. Only in 2021 did the Offshore receive chronograph calibres developed and made entirely by Audemars Piguet, the integrated 4401 and 4404.

6. What is the difference between the 26170 and the 26470?
Both are 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronographs with calibre 3126/3840. The 26470, launched in 2014, has black ceramic crown and pushers instead of rubber-coated ones, reshaped crown and pusher guards, slimmer numerals, broader faceted hands and, on strap models, a pin buckle instead of a folding buckle. Bizak & Co. lists steel 26170s from $19,341 and steel 26470s from $18,085 (October 19, 2026).

7. How much is an Audemars Piguet 26170ST.OO.D101CR.02?
Bizak & Co. lists it from $19,883, and a second listing of the same reference is $20,999 (October 19, 2026). The other steel 26170 references are listed from $19,341 on a strap to $27,745 on the steel bracelet.
