The Richard Mille RM 029 is the Automatic with Oversize Date: a 48 x 39.70 x 12.60 mm tonneau watch introduced in 2011, built around the skeletonised calibre RMAS7 with hours, minutes, seconds and a large date at 4 o'clock. Richard Mille now lists it among its historical models. This listing, RM029LMC, is the Le Mans Classic edition, in the event's green and white Quartz TPT with a 24-hour display at 2 o'clock and a white rubber strap; Bizak & Co. lists it from $269,699.

What sets the RM 029 Le Mans Classic apart

  • A date you can read at a glance. Richard Mille designed the RM 029 to make the date legible in all conditions, with a large horizontal display at 4 o'clock and an oversize date mechanism inspired by the RM 011. On this edition the date window is framed in orange.
  • Calibre RMAS7. The RM 029's skeletonised automatic has a baseplate and bridges in grade 5 titanium with Titalyt treatment, a black PVD-treated oversize date bridge, Incabloc shock protection on both the dial and movement sides, 32 jewels and a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph). Richard Mille says the skeletonisation took more than ten months to finalise, testing numerous versions of the titanium baseplate so the movement lost none of its strength.
  • Variable-geometry rotor. Its arms are grade 2 titanium with adjustable 18K white gold ribs, the weight segment along the edge is white gold and the ball bearings are ceramic, so the winding can be adapted to how active the wearer is.
  • No casing ring. The movement is mounted on ISO SW chassis mounting rubbers fixed by four titanium screws, an approach Richard Mille compares with the way a Formula 1 car's chassis and engine are developed together.
  • Le Mans Classic colours. Green Quartz TPT with two white stripes across the bezel, a white caseband, an orange crown collar, the Le Mans Classic chequered-flag logo between 7 and 8 o'clock and the RM029 marking in orange at 9 o'clock, on a white rubber strap. Richard Mille has made a special watch for every Le Mans Classic since 2008, ten in all up to the RM 30-01 of 2025, each in the event's green and white.
  • 24-hour display at 2 o'clock. This edition adds a 24-hour scale at 2 o'clock with the 16 highlighted. On the 2025 RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic, Richard Mille explains its highlighted 16 as the start time of the race.
  • Quartz TPT. Layers of quartz fibre no thicker than 45 microns, each laid at 45 degrees to the one before and cured under pressure at 120°C; the fibre is naturally white and the colour comes from the matrix. Richard Mille develops the material with North Thin Ply Technology.

  • The date. Ask for a short video of the date being advanced: the numerals should change cleanly and sit centred in the window at 4 o'clock.

Richard Mille calls the RM 029 a pure lifestyle watch. Introduced in 2011, it was designed around one practical aim, a date that can be read easily in all conditions: a large horizontal display at 4 o'clock, driven by an oversize date mechanism inspired by the RM 011, inside a tonneau case of 48 x 39.70 x 12.60 mm. Richard Mille now lists the RM 029 among its historical models.

Skeletonising the calibre RMAS7 took more than ten months, because the movement could give up none of its strength or its ability to withstand shocks; numerous versions of the titanium baseplate were tested before the final pattern of cut-outs was chosen. The baseplate and bridges are grade 5 titanium with Titalyt treatment, the balance has Incabloc protection on both sides, and the variable-geometry rotor, with grade 2 titanium arms and adjustable 18K white gold ribs, lets the winding be matched to the wearer's activity. There is no casing ring: the movement sits on rubber chassis mounts fixed by four titanium screws.

Richard Mille has supported the Le Mans Classic since the first edition in 2002 and has made a special watch for every edition since 2008, each in the event's green and white. On this RM 029 the colours are carried by Quartz TPT, a composite of quartz fibre layers no thicker than 45 microns, each laid at 45 degrees to the last and cured under pressure at 120°C. The fibre is naturally white; the colour comes from the matrix that binds it.
