The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN is the steel Daytona Rolex made from 2016 to 2023: a 40 mm Oystersteel chronograph with a fixed black Cerachrom ceramic bezel, the self-winding calibre 4130 and an Oyster bracelet. This listing is the black-dial version, Rolex model 116500LN-0002, from $30,309; the white-dial “Panda” is the same watch with black counters on a white dial.

What sets the 116500LN apart

• The first steel Daytona with a ceramic bezel. Rolex unveiled it at Baselworld 2016. It kept the 40 mm case, calibre 4130 and Oyster bracelet of the steel-bezel 116520 and added a fixed black Cerachrom bezel whose tachymetric scale is coated with platinum. LN stands for lunette noire, French for black bezel.
• A black dial with silver-ringed counters. The 116500LN-0002 pairs a black lacquer dial with silver-toned rings around its three counters and Chromalight hands and hour markers, which glow blue. The white 116500LN-0001 has black counters, the look collectors call the Panda.
• Calibre 4130. Rolex’s own self-winding chronograph movement, in the Daytona since 2000, with a column wheel, a vertical clutch and a blue Parachrom hairspring. It beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and runs about 72 hours. The dial reads “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”: Rolex’s standard, redefined in 2015, allows −2/+2 seconds a day after casing.
• Made to be worn. It is a little over 12 mm thick and water-resistant to 100 m, with screw-down pushers and a Triplock crown, and its Oyster bracelet has an Oysterlock safety clasp with a 5 mm Easylink extension.
• Replaced in March 2023 by the 126500LN, so a 116500LN is now bought on the secondary market.

116500LN or 126500LN?

The 126500LN that replaced it in 2023 frames the Cerachrom bezel with a thin band of steel, has slimmer counter rings, reshaped lugs and blockier crown guards, and runs on calibre 4131 with the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers and Côtes de Genève finishing. Both are 40 mm, water-resistant to 100 m and run about 72 hours. Choose the 116500LN for the ceramic bezel that meets the case directly and the lower price; choose the 126500LN for the newer movement and a more recent guarantee date.

What a 116500LN costs

Rolex’s last US suggested retail price for the 116500LN was $14,800, before the 126500LN replaced it in March 2023. On the secondary market, Luxury Bazaar puts the black dial at about $29,000 and the Panda closer to $35,000 in excellent condition, with 2026 prices about where they were in 2023. In Rolex’s Certified Pre-Owned programme, Watches of Switzerland listed a black-dial 116500LN at $36,950 on October 19, 2026, with Rolex’s two-year Certified Pre-Owned guarantee. This listing starts at $30,309.

Buying checks for a 116500LN

• Guarantee card. Rolex’s five-year guarantee runs from the date an official retailer completed and dated the card, so that date sets any cover left.
• Year details. Match the crystal and lume to that date: Rolex added anti-reflective coating to the underside of the crystal around 2021 and improved the Chromalight lume in 2022.
• Bezel edge. The ceramic meets the case with no metal rim, so look for chips around its edge in the watch-specific photos.
• Pushers and chronograph. Both pushers should screw down fully, and the chronograph should start, stop and reset with the seconds hand returning to zero.
• Case and bracelet. Sharp lug edges and even brushing point to an unpolished case; check that the Easylink extension works and the bracelet is not stretched.
• Service. Rolex recommends a service about every ten years, depending on the model and use, so ask for the service history of an early watch.
