The Rolex "Hulk" is the Submariner Date reference 116610LV — the only Submariner Rolex ever made with both a green dial and a green ceramic bezel. 40mm Oystersteel, produced from 2010 until it was discontinued in 2020.

The nickname matters, because two green Submariners get confused constantly. The Hulk (116610LV) is green dial and green bezel. The Kermit (16610LV, 2003) is a green bezel with a black dial. The Cermit or "Starbucks" (126610LV, 2020) went back to a black dial with the green bezel. Only the Hulk is green all the way through — which is exactly why it is the one people hunt.

Is it rare? Not in absolute production terms — it ran for a decade. What makes it scarce is that Rolex discontinued it in 2020 and has not made an all-green Submariner since.

The Hulk combines a green dial and green Cerachrom ceramic bezel in the Submariner Date reference 116610LV. It was produced from 2010 to 2020 and belongs to the discontinued 40mm Submariner generation.

Hulk, Kermit, Cermit. Three green Submariners, endlessly confused, and worth getting straight before you buy. The Kermit (16610LV, 2003) marked the Submariner's fiftieth anniversary with a green aluminium bezel against a black dial. The Hulk (116610LV, 2010) went green on both dial and bezel, and moved to scratch-resistant Cerachrom. The Cermit, also called the Starbucks (126610LV, 2020), returned to a black dial with a green ceramic bezel in the new 41mm case. Only the Hulk is green throughout, which is why it earned its own nickname and its own price.

On the Maxi case. The 116610LV wears larger than its 40mm suggests. Rolex thickened the lugs and crown guards for this generation, and the effect is a watch with noticeably more wrist presence than the slimmer 16610 that preceded it. Combined with the green, it is not a discreet watch. People who love the Hulk love it precisely for that; people who find it too much usually end up with a Kermit or a black-dial Sub instead.
