The Cartier Tank Louis Cartier WGTA0175 is the hand-wound Tank Louis Cartier in 18k yellow gold with Cartier's three-gold dial: a fine checkerboard of brushed white, yellow and rose gold squares that shades from white gold at the top to rose gold at the bottom. The case measures 33.7 x 25.5 mm and 6.6 mm thick, the movement is the Manufacture calibre 1917 MC, and Cartier introduced the reference in 2023. Bizak & Co. lists the WGTA0175 from $19,999.

What sets the WGTA0175 apart

  • The dial. Cartier calls it a three gold-brushed dial. On the WGTA0175 the white, yellow and rose gold are laid out in small squares; the rose gold WGTA0176 from the same 2023 launch uses larger rectangles. The dial has no hour numerals or minute track; gold-finish steel sword hands sit over the gold squares.
  • Case. 18k yellow gold, 33.7 x 25.5 mm and 6.6 mm thick, with a yellow gold caseback, a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon and a mineral crystal; water-resistant to 3 bar (about 30 m).
  • Movement. Cartier's hand-wound Manufacture calibre 1917 MC, showing hours and minutes. The Phillips catalogue for a WGTA0175 dated 2024 lists it with 19 jewels.
  • Medium or large? Cartier's own WGTA0175 page calls this 33.7 x 25.5 mm size the medium model; some Cartier pages and many retailers still use the older name, large model. Cartier's current large Tank Louis Cartier is a bigger watch: 38.1 x 27.8 mm, 8.18 mm thick and automatic (calibre 1899 MC), as on the WGTA0357.

Buying checks for a WGTA0175

  • Match the reference to the watch: the WGTA0175 pairs the yellow gold case with the small-square dial, while a rose gold case with larger rectangles is the WGTA0176. Check both against the Cartier papers and the watch-specific photos.
  • Check the details Cartier specifies: a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon, gold-finish steel sword hands and a yellow gold caseback.
  • Ask about the strap and buckle. Cartier fits a semi-matte brown alligator strap with an 18k yellow gold ardillon buckle; a replaced strap is normal, but ask whether the gold buckle is the original.
  • Ask for the warranty card and any service papers. The card's date shows when the watch was first sold, and for a hand-wound watch it is worth knowing when it was last serviced.

Louis Cartier designed the Tank in 1917, and Cartier has reworked its rectangular case and parallel brancards ever since, in versions such as the Cintrée, Chinoise, Américaine and Française. The Tank Louis Cartier is the version named after him.

In 2023 Cartier added two hand-wound Tank Louis Cartier models with dials in three golds: the yellow gold WGTA0175, with a fine checkerboard of brushed white, yellow and rose gold squares that shades from white gold at the top to rose gold at the bottom, and the rose gold WGTA0176, with larger rectangles of the same golds.

The WGTA0175's 18k yellow gold case measures 33.7 x 25.5 mm and 6.6 mm thick, with a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon, a mineral crystal and gold-finish steel sword hands. It runs on Cartier's hand-wound Manufacture calibre 1917 MC, shows hours and minutes, is water-resistant to 3 bar and comes on a semi-matte brown alligator strap with an 18k yellow gold ardillon buckle.

FAQ

1. What is the Cartier WGTA0175?
It is the Tank Louis Cartier in 18k yellow gold with Cartier's three-gold dial, a fine checkerboard of brushed white, yellow and rose gold squares. The case is 33.7 x 25.5 mm and 6.6 mm thick, the movement is the hand-wound Manufacture calibre 1917 MC, and it comes on a brown alligator strap with an 18k yellow gold ardillon buckle. Cartier introduced it in 2023.

2. Is the WGTA0175 the medium or the large Tank Louis Cartier?
Both names are used for the same 33.7 x 25.5 mm case. Cartier's own WGTA0175 page calls it the medium model, while some Cartier pages and many retailers still call this size the large model. Cartier's current large Tank Louis Cartier, such as the WGTA0357, is a bigger watch: 38.1 x 27.8 mm and automatic, with the calibre 1899 MC.

3. What movement does the WGTA0175 use?
Cartier's hand-wound Manufacture calibre 1917 MC, which shows hours and minutes. There is no automatic winding, so you wind it through the beaded crown, which is set with a sapphire cabochon. Phillips lists the calibre with 19 jewels.

4. What is the three-gold dial?
Cartier calls it a three gold-brushed dial: brushed squares of white, yellow and rose gold that shade from white gold at the top to rose gold at the bottom, with no hour numerals, under gold-finish steel sword hands. The WGTA0175 has the small-square version; the rose gold WGTA0176, introduced with it in 2023, uses larger rectangles of the same three golds.

5. What is the difference between the WGTA0175 and the WGTA0176?
The case metal and the dial pattern. The WGTA0175 has an 18k yellow gold case and a fine checkerboard of small squares; the WGTA0176 has an 18k rose gold case and larger rectangles of the three golds. Both are 33.7 x 25.5 mm and hand-wound with the calibre 1917 MC. Bizak & Co. lists the WGTA0175 from $19,999 and the WGTA0176 from $13,899 (October 19, 2026).

6. How much is a Cartier WGTA0175?
Bizak & Co. lists the WGTA0175 from $19,999 (October 19, 2026). At auction, Phillips sold one dated January 2024 for HK$355,600 in Hong Kong in May 2025, well above its HK$100,000 to 200,000 estimate, but that watch came with an 18k tri-color gold bracelet from The Armoury, so it is no guide to a strap-fitted example. With the same yellow gold case and a coloured dial, the WGTA0190 (red) and WGTA0191 (green) are listed from $12,999 and $13,499.

7. Is the WGTA0175 water-resistant?
Cartier rates it water-resistant to 3 bar (about 30 m or 100 ft). Treat it as a dress watch: keep it out of the pool and keep the alligator strap dry.
