The Royal Oak Selfwinding is Audemars Piguet's time-and-date Royal Oak, and it comes in three sizes: 41 mm (the 15510, which replaced the 15500 and before that the 15400), 37 mm (the 15550, which replaced the 15450) and 34 mm (the 77350 and 77450). The 39 mm Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202 sits alongside as a fourth option with its own history. The right size depends on wrist circumference, how thick a watch you will tolerate and whether you want the watch to read as a tool or as a bracelet; the price gap between sizes in steel is smaller than most buyers expect. This guide compares the three sizes on dimensions, calibres, wrist fit, dated 2026 catalogue asks and resale, and lists what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources every reference below to order; the Royal Oak collection lists the configurations we can seek.

Royal Oak Selfwinding 41 mm: 15400, 15500 and 15510
The 41 mm is the modern default Royal Oak. The 15400 of 2012 used the calibre 3120 in a case about 9.8 mm thick and introduced the current dial layout. The 15500 of 2019 brought the calibre 4302, a new in-house automatic with a 70-hour reserve and a 4 Hz balance, at the cost of about 0.6 mm in thickness, and the 15510 of 2022 kept the 4302 and added the 50th-anniversary rotor on the first year, a redesigned bracelet clasp and the "50" rotor giving way to a standard one thereafter. In steel the 15510ST comes in blue, black, grey, silver and green dials. It is the size that reads as a sports watch, the one with the widest choice of dials and metals, and the one with the deepest secondary market.
Royal Oak Selfwinding 37 mm: 15450 and 15550
Audemars Piguet calls the 37 mm the unisex size, and it is the closest in proportion to the original 1972 Jumbo, which was 39 mm. The 15450 of 2012 used the calibre 3120; the 15550 of 2022 uses the calibre 5900, a newer automatic developed for the 37 mm and 38 mm cases. The 37 mm keeps the full Grande Tapisserie dial and tapering bracelet, sits noticeably flatter than the 41 mm and fits under a shirt cuff. It is the size to choose on a wrist between about 15.5 cm and 17.5 cm, or on a larger wrist if you prefer a discreet watch. Steel 15550ST examples trade below the 15510ST, and the two-tone 15550SR is one of the least expensive ways into a current Royal Oak.
Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 mm: 77350 and 77450
The 34 mm arrived in 2019 as the first small Royal Oak with an automatic movement, the calibre 5800, replacing the quartz 33 mm as the mechanical entry point. It is about 8.8 mm thick and wears like a bracelet; the bezel screws and Tapisserie pattern are all present at reduced scale. The 77450 references introduced after 2022 updated the dials and bracelets. Most buyers are women, but the 34 mm also suits a wrist under 15 cm regardless of who wears it. Steel 77450ST models are priced close to the 37 mm steel, and gold, ceramic and frosted versions rise steeply from there.
Which Royal Oak size fits your wrist?
| Wrist circumference | Recommended size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Under 15 cm (5.9 in) | 34 mm | The 37 mm will overhang; the 34 mm sits inside the wrist bones |
| 15 to 16.5 cm (5.9 to 6.5 in) | 34 mm or 37 mm | Both work; the 37 mm reads as a watch, the 34 mm as jewellery |
| 16.5 to 18 cm (6.5 to 7.1 in) | 37 mm or 41 mm | The 41 mm is the sports-watch look; the 37 mm is slimmer and dressier |
| Over 18 cm (7.1 in) | 41 mm | The 37 mm can look small; the 39 mm 16202 is the slim alternative |
The Royal Oak's integrated bracelet wears larger than the case diameter suggests because the end links are wide and the case is angular. Measure the wrist, then try the size above and below the one you expect. On the 41 mm, check that the first bracelet link clears the wrist bone; if it does not, go down a size.
Is the 41 mm too big or the 37 mm too small?
Neither, on the right wrist. The 41 mm at 10.4 mm thick is the thickest of the three and the one most likely to catch on a cuff, but the calibre 4302 gives it the longest reserve and the most robust movement. The 37 mm loses about 1 mm of thickness and gains nothing in legibility that matters; its dial is still large enough to read across a room. The 34 mm is the one that changes character: at that size the watch becomes an accessory rather than a tool. Men with average wrists who worry the 37 mm is too small usually find, on trying it, that it is the 41 mm that looks large. The 39 mm 16202 Jumbo splits the difference at 8.1 mm thick, with the ultra-thin calibre 7121, no seconds hand and a much higher price.
How much is a Royal Oak Selfwinding? Prices by size in 2026
- Retail. Audemars Piguet publishes prices by market on its own site. In steel the three sizes are closer at retail than the secondary market suggests; the 41 mm carries the largest premium because it is the most requested.
- Bizak catalogue asks, 21 September 2026. Our sourced catalogue listed the 41 mm 15510ST from US$53,457 for grey, US$54,590 silver, US$56,650 black, US$59,740 to US$61,594 green and US$70,555 blue, the previous 15500ST from US$46,350 and a pre-owned 15500ST from US$37,199, a pre-owned 15400ST from US$40,735, the rose gold 15510OR from US$56,650 on strap to US$105,575 on bracelet, and the white gold 15510BC at US$118,450. In 37 mm the two-tone 15550SR was listed at US$47,122 and the yellow gold 15550BA at US$126,175. In 34 mm the steel 77450ST was listed at US$43,259, the two-tone 77450SR at US$48,821 and the rose gold 77450OR at US$111,550. The 39 mm 16202ST was listed from US$95,687. All sourced to order.
- What moves the price. Blue dials, full sets with warranty card, unpolished cases and bracelets with all links each add; strap versions in gold sit below bracelet versions by a wide margin.
Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact reference, dial and set; our Audemars Piguet price guide explains how to compare quotes.
Which Royal Oak size holds value best?
The 41 mm steel has the deepest market and the most buyers, so it is the easiest to sell and the one that has carried the largest premium over retail since 2020. The 37 mm follows, helped by demand from both men and women. The 34 mm has a narrower buyer base and, in steel, trades closer to retail. Blue dials lead in every size. The previous generations, the 15400 and 15450, are the value route: same case, older calibre, and priced well under the current references. Buy the size that fits; if resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.
Buying a Royal Oak Selfwinding: what to check
- Reference and size. The full reference (for example 15510ST.OO.1320ST.06) encodes size, metal, dial and bracelet; confirm it against the warranty card and caseback.
- Case edges. The bevels between brushed and polished surfaces should be crisp on the case and every bracelet link; rounded edges mean polishing.
- Bezel screws. Eight hexagonal screws, aligned as the factory sets them; a rotated screw is a sign the bezel has been off.
- Bracelet. Count the links and check for stretch by holding the watch by the clasp; missing links are expensive to replace.
- Movement. The 4302, 5900 and 5800 are visible through the caseback; the rotor should spin freely and the seconds hand should move without hesitation.
- Warranty. Current references carry the manufacture warranty; for a 15400 or 15450 ask for the last service receipt.
- Price against the band. A full-set steel Royal Oak offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.

Quick answers
What sizes does the Royal Oak Selfwinding come in?
41 mm (15510), 37 mm (15550) and 34 mm (77350 and 77450), all with automatic in-house calibres. The 39 mm 16202 Jumbo Extra-Thin is a separate reference with the ultra-thin calibre 7121.
Is the Royal Oak 41 mm too big?
Not on a wrist over about 16.5 cm. It is about 10.4 mm thick and wears larger than the diameter suggests because of the integrated bracelet; on smaller wrists the 37 mm is the better fit.
What is the difference between the 15500 and 15510?
Both are 41 mm with the calibre 4302. The 15510 of 2022 added a 50th-anniversary rotor in its first year, an updated clasp and new dial colours; the 15500 of 2019 to 2022 is otherwise the same watch and trades for less.
How much is a Royal Oak Selfwinding 41 mm?
Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the steel 15510ST from US$53,457 to US$70,555 depending on dial, and the previous 15500ST from US$46,350, on 21 September 2026, sourced to order.
Which Royal Oak size is best for resale?
The 41 mm in steel, especially with a blue dial, has the most buyers and the largest premium. The 37 mm follows; the 34 mm has a narrower market and trades closer to retail.
