The most expensive Patek Philippe ever sold, and the top of the 2026 catalog

Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300G-010 in white gold with blue dials

The most expensive Patek Philippe ever sold is the Grandmaster Chime reference 6300A-010. It sold for 31 million Swiss francs, about $31 million, at the Only Watch charity auction held at Christie's in Geneva on November 9, 2019. No watch of any brand has sold for more at auction. Nothing has come close since, not even the steel 1518 that made $17.6 million at Phillips in November 2025. Bizak & Co. is a sourcing desk, not an authorized Patek Philippe dealer: every watch here is found to order, not held in stock.

What is the most expensive Patek Philippe ever sold?

The 6300A-010 Grandmaster Chime holds the record at CHF 31 million. Patek made it for Only Watch 2019, a charity sale that funds research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It is the only Grandmaster Chime cased in steel. The model carries 20 complications, among them a grande sonnerie, a minute repeater, an alarm and a perpetual calendar. Patek's own release called the result the highest bid ever attained for a watch. Guinness World Records lists it the same way.

Two things about the list below matter. Only Watch is a charity sale, so the full amount goes to the cause, and bidders know it. Patek has donated a unique piece to every edition since 2005. The for-profit wristwatch record is a different watch. A 1943 steel reference 1518 sold at Phillips in Geneva on November 8, 2025 for CHF 14,190,000, or $17,631,075. Phillips calls it the most expensive vintage Patek Philippe wristwatch ever sold at auction.

Phillips and Sotheby's figures include the buyer's premium. Only Watch figures are the amount paid, with the whole sum going to the charity. Dollar figures in brackets come from the house or from reports at the time of each sale.

Why do these Pateks sell for so much?

Three things drive the top results: complications, rare metal and provenance. The best lots have all three.

Complications first. The Graves pocket watch has 24 of them. Henry Graves Jr. ordered it in 1925, and Patek delivered it in January 1933. It sold at Sotheby's in Geneva on November 11, 2014 for CHF 23,237,000, about $24 million. Fifteen years earlier it had sold at Sotheby's in New York for $11,002,500. The Grandmaster Chime has 20 complications and two dials in a case that flips over. The 6301A-010 that sold for CHF 15.7 million in May 2024 has a grande sonnerie, which strikes the hours and quarters on its own.

Metal second. Patek almost never cases a grand complication in steel. Every Only Watch piece in the table is a one-off in steel or titanium, and that is a large part of the price. Vintage works the same way. Patek made about 281 examples of the 1518, the first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch, from 1941. Most are yellow gold. Four are known in steel. The one Phillips sold in 2025 was the first steel case made, with a "1" stamped under the case number. In 2016 it became the first wristwatch to pass eight figures at auction.

Provenance third. The Tiffany Blue Nautilus was one of only 170 made. It sold for $6,503,500 at Phillips in New York on December 11, 2021, with the money going to The Nature Conservancy. That was more than 100 times its retail price. A white gold Grandmaster Chime once owned by Sylvester Stallone sold at Sotheby's in June 2024 for more than $5 million. Even Patek's one-off desk clock for Only Watch 2021 brought CHF 9.5 million at Christie's in Geneva.

Has any sale beaten the record since 2019?

No. Nothing through the May 2026 sales has come close. The steel 1518 came closest in dollars, at $17,631,075 at Phillips in November 2025. The 6301A-010 came closest in francs, at CHF 15.7 million at Only Watch 2024. In May 2026 two vintage Pateks passed $10 million in one month. The 2523 World Time with a cloisonné enamel map of South America made CHF 7,961,000 at Phillips in Geneva on May 9, a record for the reference. The pink gold first-series 2499 made HK$80,370,000 at Phillips in Hong Kong on May 30. Everywatch counted $202 million of Patek sold at auction in the first half of 2026, more than any other brand. In francs, the 2019 record is still almost double the best result since. The next test is the Phillips sale in Geneva in November 2026.

What is the most expensive Patek Philippe you can buy new?

The Grandmaster Chime tops the current catalog. Patek calls the gem-set 6300/403G-001 the most complicated piece in its current collection: white gold, 49.4 mm, 20 complications, 118 baguette emeralds and 291 baguette diamonds. Patek's US site lists it in the mid seven figures. The 6300GR-001 in rose and white gold keeps the same 20 complications in a 47.7 mm case. The plain white gold Grandmaster Chime 6300G-010 was reported at retail in the low seven figures in 2019.

Reference What it is Case Price band
6300/403G-001 Grandmaster Chime, 20 complications, gem set White gold, 49.4 mm, reversible Mid seven figures
6300GR-001 Grandmaster Chime, 20 complications Rose and white gold, 47.7 mm, reversible Low-to-mid seven figures
6002R-001 Sky Moon Tourbillon, 12 complications, cathedral gong minute repeater, enamel dial Rose gold, hand engraved, 44 mm Low seven figures
6301P-001 Grande and petite sonnerie, minute repeater, jumping seconds, black enamel dial Platinum, 44.8 mm Low seven figures
5308G-001 Minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar White gold Low seven figures

Below the chiming watches sit the perpetual calendar chronographs and the minute repeaters. Patek has dropped the 5270P-001, 5204P-011, 5208R-001, 5231J-001 and 5531R-001 from its site, so expect those pre-owned. The 5270P-001 perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum with a salmon dial follows the same recipe as the 1518 and the 2499. The 5204P-011 adds a split-seconds chronograph in platinum. The 5208R-001 stacks a minute repeater, a chronograph and a perpetual calendar in one rose gold case. The 5374G-001 pairs a minute repeater with a perpetual calendar in white gold. If the 2523's enamel map is what you love, look at the World Time 5231J-001 with a cloisonné enamel dial in yellow gold, or the World Time Minute Repeater 5531R-001 in rose gold. Browse the Patek Philippe Grand Complications and the 5270 family.

How much is a Patek Philippe?

Many Patek Philippe watches cost five figures, not seven. The entry point is the Twenty~4 and the Calatrava. The steel Twenty~4 Automatic launched in the low five figures. The Calatrava 6119G-001, a 39 mm white gold hand-wound watch with a hobnail bezel, launched in the low-to-mid five figures. The Tiffany Nautilus retailed at five figures and sold for more than 100 times that. Grand complications start in the six figures and climb into the seven. So the gap between a first Patek and the record is about three zeros. For the full price map, read our guides to the cheapest Patek Philippe and Patek Philippe watch prices.
