How the yellow gold Royal Oaks differ
-
Selfwinding, 34 to 41 mm. The 37 mm 15550BA has calibre 5900, with date and a 60-hour power reserve: with a natural turquoise dial it starts at $189,572, and the Frosted Gold 15550BA.GG.1356BA.01, with a smoked yellow gold-toned sunburst dial, at $120,125. The 15553BA with a malachite dial ($199,499) and the all-yellow-gold 15550BA.OO.1356BA.02 made with designer Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM ($127,204) use calibre 5909, without a date. The 41 mm 15513BA pairs a malachite dial with calibre 4309 and 70 hours. The 34 mm 77450BA is Frosted Gold with a yellow gold-plated “Crystal Sand” dial and calibre 5800. The earlier 37 mm 15450BA, from $73,077, has calibre 3120.
-
“Jumbo” Extra-Thin, 39 mm. The current models are 8.1 mm thick. The 16202BA has calibre 7121 (52 hours, with date) and a smoked yellow gold-toned “Petite Tapisserie” dial; the 16202BA.OO.1240BA.01, from $136,474, is the 50th Anniversary version with the “50-years” oscillating weight. The 15202BA, from $92,999, has calibre 2121 (40 hours), and Audemars Piguet presents its gold-on-gold version as a tribute to the 1977 Royal Oak Extra-Thin, which it describes as the first forged in yellow gold. The openworked 16204BA (calibre 7124, hours and minutes) starts at $195,700. The 16202BA.HH.1241BA.01, from $371,999, is set with 1,528 yellow sapphires on the case, dial and bracelet and is water-resistant to 20 m rather than 50 m.
-
Chronograph, 41 mm. The 26240BA is 12.4 mm thick, with the flyback calibre 4401 and 70 hours. The 26240BA.OO.1320BA.02, from $102,299, was the first 41 mm Royal Oak chronograph to pair a yellow gold case and bracelet with a smoked yellow gold-toned “Grande Tapisserie” dial; the Frosted Gold 26240BA.GG.1324BA.01, dedicated to Japan, has black counters ($134,849); and the Matthew Williams 26240BA.OO.1320BA.01 ($162,162) drops the counters and hour-markers and uses calibre 4409, without a date. The earlier 26320BA and 26331BA start at $82,769 and $89,279.
-
Complications. The 26586BA Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, a yellow gold special edition from $379,040, is 6.2 mm thick with calibre 5133 and water-resistant to 20 m; the earlier 26574BA perpetual calendar starts at $164,609. The Double Balance Wheel Openworked models use calibre 3132 (45 hours): the 41 mm 15407BA has a blackened openworked movement ($211,995), and the Frosted Gold 15412BA (41 mm) and 15468BA (37 mm) have bezels set with “rainbow” baguette-cut gemstones, from $371,999 and $195,299. The 26730BA Flying Tourbillon (calibre 2950, 65 hours) starts at $325,499; the 26730BA.ZZ.1320BA.01 adds 44 baguette diamonds on the bezel and hour-markers ($464,999).
-
Quartz. The 23 mm Mini 67630BA, inspired by the 20 mm Mini Royal Oak of 1997, runs on calibre 2730, with a battery life of over seven years and a crown that pauses the battery when pulled. It comes in Frosted Gold ($89,999) or with a white mother-of-pearl dial ($108,999); see our Royal Oak Mini guide. The earlier 33 mm 67651BA has a diamond-set bezel ($64,860).
-
Royal Oak Offshore and Concept. The 26420CE, from $51,678, is the one watch here not cased in gold: a 43 mm black ceramic chronograph with yellow gold pushpiece guards and case links, water-resistant to 100 m, on a black alligator strap with an extra rubber strap. The earlier 42 mm Offshore chronograph 25721BA is yellow gold on a yellow gold bracelet ($66,959), and the 44 mm Offshore tourbillon chronograph 26407BA starts at $232,499. More yellow gold Offshores, such as the 26007BA from $42,999, are in yellow gold Audemars Piguet. The Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26224BA and 26225BA start at $929,907.

Which yellow gold Royal Oak to choose
-
Size and thickness. For a small wrist, the 23 mm Mini or the 34 mm 77450BA; for a mid-size watch, the 37 mm 15550BA, or the 39 mm Jumbo at 8.1 mm thick, which Audemars Piguet presents as a tribute to the 1972 original. The 41 mm chronograph is 12.4 mm thick, and the Offshore runs from 42 to 44 mm. Our Royal Oak 37 mm and Royal Oak 41 mm pages show every metal in each size.
-
Polished or Frosted Gold. Frosted Gold is Audemars Piguet’s hammered finish, made by beating the gold with a diamond-tipped tool to create tiny indentations that sparkle. AP introduced it on the Royal Oak in 2016 with jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. Compare every Frosted Gold Royal Oak.
-
Dial. Most current yellow gold models have a yellow gold-toned or smoked yellow gold-toned dial, for a gold-on-gold look. For contrast, choose blue (15202BA.OO.1240BA.01, or compare every blue dial Royal Oak), malachite (15513BA, 15553BA), turquoise (15550BA.OO.1356BA.01), white mother-of-pearl (67630BA.OO.1312BA.03) or the black dial of the ceramic Offshore 26420CE.
-
Gem-set or plain. Gem-set yellow gold Royal Oaks include the 26730BA.ZZ (baguette diamonds), the 15412BA and 15468BA (rainbow gemstones), the 16202BA.HH (yellow sapphires) and the earlier 67651BA and 15451BA (diamond-set bezels). Audemars Piguet’s specification for each current reference describes its stones.
-
Water resistance. 50 m for most current models; 20 m for the 16202BA.HH and the 26586BA perpetual calendar; 100 m for the 26420CE Offshore.
What to check before you pay the balance
-
The full reference. Match the reference on the papers to the case, dial and bracelet in the photos of the specific watch. The letters and digits after BA identify the version: on the 16202BA, OO.1240BA.01 is the 50th Anniversary model and HH.1241BA.01 the sapphire-set one.
-
Polishing. Crisp edges on the bezel, case and bracelet links suggest light or no polishing. Judge condition from photos of the specific watch, not from catalogue images.
-
Stones. On a gem-set model, compare the number and cut of the stones with Audemars Piguet’s specification for the reference; stones that are not original should be disclosed before you approve the watch.
-
The warranty card date. Audemars Piguet’s five-year warranty applies to watches bought through its authorized network from 1 January 2017, subject to its International Sales Warranty, so the card date shows whether any of the five years is left.
-
Box, papers and links. Ask which items a quote includes, and how many bracelet links come with the watch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a gold AP watch?
In yellow gold, the Royal Oaks on this page start at $64,860 on Bizak today (a 33 mm quartz model with a diamond-set bezel), $73,077 for a 37 mm selfwinding 15450BA, $82,769 for a 41 mm chronograph and $92,999 for a 39 mm Jumbo Extra-Thin, rising to $929,907 for a Royal Oak Concept tourbillon chronograph. A yellow gold Royal Oak Offshore 26007BA starts at $42,999. Other golds start lower: a 33 mm rose gold Royal Oak on a strap at $21,199 and a white gold Jules Audemars at $18,799. These are live asking prices.
Is a gold AP solid gold?
Yes. For every yellow gold Royal Oak it lists today, Audemars Piguet specifies an 18-carat yellow gold case and an 18-carat yellow gold bracelet; BA in the reference means yellow gold. Audemars Piguet describes most dials as gold-toned or gold-plated; the Matthew Williams editions have a yellow gold dial with vertical satin-finishing, and the 16202BA.HH.1241BA.01 an 18-carat yellow gold dial set with yellow sapphires. The 26420CE Offshore has a black ceramic case with yellow gold links and pushpiece guards.
What sizes does the yellow gold Royal Oak come in?
On Bizak today: 23 mm (Mini, quartz), 33 mm (quartz), 34 and 37 mm (selfwinding), 39 mm (Jumbo Extra-Thin, 8.1 mm thick) and 41 mm (selfwinding, chronograph, perpetual calendar, Double Balance Wheel Openworked and flying tourbillon), plus the Royal Oak Offshore at 42, 43 and 44 mm and the 44 mm Royal Oak Concept.
What is the difference between yellow, rose and white gold Royal Oaks?
The colour of the 18-carat gold and the code in the reference: BA for yellow gold, OR for pink gold, which is Audemars Piguet’s name for rose gold, and BC for white gold. Many models are made in all three, and no gold is always the cheapest: on Bizak today the Jumbo 16202 starts at $134,415 in white, $136,474 in yellow and $150,535 in pink gold, while the 26240 chronograph starts at $102,299 in yellow, $107,325 in pink and $134,929 in white gold.
Which yellow gold Royal Oaks does Audemars Piguet still make?
On 19 October 2026 Audemars Piguet’s website listed the 15202BA, 16202BA and openworked 16204BA Jumbo Extra-Thin, the 37 mm 15550BA and 15553BA, the 41 mm 15513BA, the 34 mm 77450BA, the 23 mm Mini 67630BA, the 26240BA chronograph, the 26586BA perpetual calendar, the 15407BA, 15412BA, 15467BA and 15468BA Double Balance Wheel Openworked models and the 26730BA flying tourbillon. The 15450BA, 26320BA, 26331BA, 26574BA and 67651BA, among others, are no longer listed, so they come only from the secondary market.
What is Frosted Gold?
Audemars Piguet’s hammered gold finish: the gold is beaten with a diamond-tipped tool to create tiny indentations that sparkle like diamond dust. AP introduced the Royal Oak Frosted Gold in 2016, with jewellery designer Carolina Bucci, for the 40th anniversary of the ladies’ Royal Oak. In yellow gold it is on the 23 mm Mini 67630BA.GG, the 34 mm 77450BA, the 37 mm 15550BA.GG.1356BA.01, the 26240BA.GG.1324BA.01 chronograph and the 15412BA and 15468BA openworked models; the earlier 15454BA is Frosted Gold too.
When did Audemars Piguet first make the Royal Oak in yellow gold?
Audemars Piguet describes the 1977 Royal Oak Extra-Thin as the first forged in yellow gold, five years after the steel original designed by Gérald Genta was launched at the 1972 Basel Fair. Its current 15202BA.OO.1240BA.02.A, with a yellow gold-toned dial, is presented as a tribute to that watch.
Is a yellow gold Royal Oak a good investment?
No one can promise that a watch will rise in value, and prices vary widely by reference: on Bizak today the 26240 chronograph starts at $102,299 in yellow gold and $42,779 in steel, and the earlier 37 mm 15450BA starts at $73,077 against $120,125 for the cheapest current 37 mm 15550BA. Buy the model you want to wear, and pay for condition and completeness.
How do I know a yellow gold Royal Oak is genuine?
Before dispatch, Bizak confirms the specific sourced watch and arranges its inspection: the reference and serial, movement, case, dial and hands, bracelet, papers and condition, as our authentication page sets out, and you approve that watch before paying the balance. Check that the reference on the papers matches the watch, and on gem-set models compare the stones with Audemars Piguet’s specification.
