What makes the RM 65-01 different

Richard Mille calls the RMAC4 its most complicated automatic calibre. Developed over some five years with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, it was the brand’s first automatic movement with a split-seconds hand: both chronograph hands start together, the pusher at 10 o’clock stops one of them to show an intermediate time while the other keeps running, and a second press lets it catch up. A six-column wheel coordinates the chronograph, and Richard Mille says the 5 Hz balance lets it measure to a tenth of a second.

Richard Mille designed it for everyday use. A pusher at 8 o’clock rewinds the barrel quickly if the watch has stopped (Richard Mille quotes 125 presses for a full wind), and a pusher in the crown steps through winding, date setting and hand setting like a gearbox, shown by the W, D or H hand at 4 o’clock. The rotor’s platinum weight can sit in three positions to wind faster for a quiet routine or slower during sport, and each function has its own colour on the dial, shared with its pusher, so the open dial stays readable.

What to check before you buy an RM 65-01

  • The version. Read the reference and serial on the watch against the warranty card, and check that the case material and colours match the version you are paying for. Catalogue images can be reference images, so judge the watch from the watch-specific photos you receive after your deposit.
  • Every pusher. Ask for a short video: the chronograph should start and stop at 2 o’clock and reset at 4 o’clock, and the split-seconds hand should stop at 10 o’clock and catch up when pressed again.
  • Crown, winding and date. The crown pusher should move the hand at 4 o’clock through W, D and H, the pusher at 8 o’clock should rewind the barrel, and the date at 11 o’clock should set.
  • Service history. Ask when the watch was last serviced; our guide to Richard Mille service cost and intervals explains what is due when.
  • Box, papers and strap. Confirm which box, papers and strap come with the watch; see what a complete Richard Mille set includes.

Our guide to spotting a fake Richard Mille covers the spline screws, movement and paperwork. Found your RM 65-01? Open its listing and tap Reserve with $200. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Richard Mille RM 65-01?

The RM 65-01 Automatic Winding Split-seconds Chronograph is Richard Mille’s most complex automatic watch, launched in December 2020. Its skeletonised calibre RMAC4 combines a split-seconds chronograph with 30-minute and 12-hour counters, a date, a function selector and a rapid-winding pusher, beats at 5 Hz and runs for about 60 hours. The tonneau case measures 44.50 × 49.94 × 16.10 mm and is water resistant to 50 metres.

How much is an RM 65-01?

On Bizak on 19 October 2026 an RM 65-01 costs from $292,950 in titanium and $344,100 in Carbon TPT. The pastel blue, grey and dark yellow Quartz TPT versions run from $353,399 to $371,999, red gold and Carbon TPT is $384,090, the McLaren W1 is $464,999 and the LeBron James edition is $557,999. At launch in December 2020 the Carbon TPT version retailed for US$310,000, as reported by Robb Report.

What size is the RM 65-01?

Richard Mille gives the case as 44.50 mm wide, 49.94 mm long and 16.10 mm thick, the same for every material; only the McLaren W1, with its own case, differs, at 43.84 mm wide and 16.19 mm thick. Some catalogue titles say 40 mm or 50 mm; they refer to this same case.

What does the split-seconds function do?

It lets you time two events that start together. The pusher at 2 o’clock starts both chronograph seconds hands; pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock stops one of them to show an intermediate time while the other keeps running, and pressing it again lets the stopped hand catch up. The pusher at 4 o’clock resets the chronograph, and the counters at 3 and 9 o’clock record up to 30 minutes and 12 hours.

How do you wind the RM 65-01?

It winds itself as you wear it: the rotor’s platinum weight can sit in three positions to wind faster for light activity or slower during sport. If the watch has stopped, the pusher at 8 o’clock rewinds the barrel quickly; Richard Mille quotes 125 presses for a full wind. You can also wind it by the crown after selecting W with the crown pusher. The power reserve is about 60 hours with the chronograph stopped.

What is Quartz TPT, and which RM 65-01s use it?

Quartz TPT is a composite of many layers of silica fibres, each 45 microns thick, saturated with resin and heated to 120°C at a pressure of 6 bars; it was developed by North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT). The RM 65-01 has been made in grey (2023), pastel blue and dark yellow (2024) Quartz TPT, and the LeBron James edition has a yellow Quartz TPT middle case. Carbon TPT, used on the launch version and the McLaren W1, is made the same way from carbon fibres.

Is there a McLaren RM 65-01?

Yes. The RM 65-01 McLaren W1, introduced in October 2024, is a 500-piece edition inspired by McLaren’s W1 supercar. It has a 43.84 mm wide Carbon TPT case with a double bezel in titanium and Carbon TPT, the titanium only 0.50 mm at its thinnest, and a crown with a papaya orange rubber grip and the McLaren Speedmark. Its price was on request at launch; on Bizak the RM65-01W1 is $464,999.

What is the LeBron James RM 65-01?

A 150-piece edition made with LeBron James and shown at Fanatics Fest in June 2025. It was priced at US$405,040, as reported by Robb Report; on Bizak the RM65-01LBJ is $557,999.

Is the RM 65-01 discontinued?

No. In October 2026 Richard Mille still lists the RM 65-01 Automatic Split-seconds Chronograph and the RM 65-01 McLaren W1 in its current collections, not among its historical models.

Is Bizak a Richard Mille authorized dealer?

No. Bizak & Co. is an independent Miami Beach dealer, not a Richard Mille boutique, and sources each RM 65-01 to order. Before dispatch the specific sourced watch is inspected; the checks cover the reference and serial, movement, case, dial and hands, strap, condition and documentation.

Do Bizak’s RM 65-01 watches come with box and papers?

It depends on the specific watch. Box, papers and accessories are confirmed for the watch we source, with watch-specific photos and a current quote, before you commit the balance. If a full set matters to you, say so when you reserve.
