The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15514BC.RR.1284BC.01 is the 41 mm ruby Royal Oak: Audemars Piguet names it Royal Oak Selfwinding Ruby “50th Anniversary” and describes it as part of a set of ten pieces, each decorated with a different gemstone. Its 18-carat white gold case, dial and bracelet carry 861 baguette-cut rubies, about 45.6 carats on the whole watch, so this red AP owes its colour to the stones rather than to a painted dial. Inside is the selfwinding calibre 4309 with a 70-hour power reserve and the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary oscillating weight, behind a sapphire caseback. Bizak & Co. lists it from $464,999.
What sets the 15514BC.RR.1284BC.01 apart
- A dial made of rubies. Audemars Piguet describes an 18-carat white gold dial set with baguette-cut rubies and white gold Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. There are no applied hour-markers and no date window: calibre 4309 shows hours, minutes and centre seconds only.
- 861 rubies, about 45.6 carats. All ten versions carry 861 baguette-cut stones; by carat weight the rubies are second only to the orange spessartites (about 47.3 carats), against about 30.9 carats for the amethysts. The octagonal bezel keeps its eight hexagonal screws between the rubies.
- Calibre 4309. Selfwinding, 32 jewels, 225 parts, 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), a 70-hour power reserve, 32 mm across and 4.9 mm thick, with the 50th anniversary oscillating weight visible through the sapphire caseback.
- Thicker than a steel 41 mm Royal Oak. Audemars Piguet lists this piece at 11.6 mm thick and water-resistant to 20 m. The steel 15510ST.OO.1320ST.03 is 10.5 mm thick, water-resistant to 50 m, has a screw-locked crown and uses calibre 4302, which adds the date.

Checks before you pay the balance
- The full reference. Have the quote and the warranty card read 15514BC.RR.1284BC.01: RR is the ruby version, and the 37 mm ruby piece is 15554BC.RR.1274BC.01.
- The setting. Ask for close-up daylight photos of the dial, bezel, crown and bracelet, so you can check that every baguette is in place and the colour is even across the watch.

Exclusions include accidental damage, misuse, water damage, cosmetic damage, normal wear, loss and theft. Coverage and service availability for vintage or modified watches are confirmed in writing before purchase.
