The Richard Mille RM 11-03 McLaren is the first watch Richard Mille made with McLaren Automotive: an automatic flyback chronograph revealed at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, limited to 500 pieces and now listed among the brand's historical models. Its 49.94 x 44.50 mm tonneau case is Carbon TPT interlaced with Orange Quartz TPT, around the skeletonised calibre RMAC3 with about 55 hours of power reserve. Bizak & Co. lists it from $367,349.

What sets the RM 11-03 McLaren apart

  • Designed with McLaren. Richard Mille created it in close collaboration with McLaren Design Director Rob Melville, and the launch release named Richard Mille engineer Fabrice Namura as his counterpart. It was the first watch to come out of the brand's work with McLaren Automotive, the road-car company, which began in 2017.
  • Carbon TPT with Orange Quartz TPT. The case interlaces the two composites, built up from layers of fine filaments, which makes it extremely resistant and light; the orange is a tribute to McLaren's signature colour.
  • Car parts in titanium. The chronograph pushers echo the headlights of the McLaren 720S. Titanium inserts on the bezel at 12 and 6 o'clock take the shape of the McLaren F1's air-intake snorkel and carry the McLaren logo, and the grade 5 titanium crown is shaped like a lightweight McLaren wheel. The rubber strap, developed for this edition, carries the McLaren Speedmark logo.
  • The calibre RMAC3. The skeletonised automatic movement of the RM 11-03, with a grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges, two barrels mounted in parallel, a variable-inertia balance at 4 Hz and a variable-geometry rotor that adapts winding to the wearer's activity. The flyback chronograph returns to zero and restarts with one press, and the dial also carries a 60-minute countdown timer at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour totaliser, an oversize date and a month indicator.
  • 500 pieces for McLaren owners first. The edition launched at CHF 180,000 plus tax and was offered first to owners of McLaren's Ultimate Series cars through Richard Mille boutiques; buyers could match the number on the caseback to the number of their car.

RM 11-03 McLaren, standard RM 11-03 or RM 40-01 Speedtail?

The standard RM 11-03 shares this watch's calibre; the RM 40-01 is the next watch Richard Mille made with McLaren Automotive.

Richard Mille has worked with McLaren Automotive, the road-car company, since 2017, and the RM 11-03 McLaren was the first watch the two made together. Richard Mille revealed it at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show as the RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph McLaren, created in close collaboration with McLaren Design Director Rob Melville; the launch release named Richard Mille engineer Fabrice Namura as his counterpart. It followed the RM 50-03 McLaren F1 of 2017, a 75-piece tourbillon split-seconds chronograph made with the Formula 1 team, and was followed by the RM 40-01 McLaren Speedtail in 2021 and the RM 65-01 McLaren W1 in 2024.

The case is Carbon TPT interlaced with Orange Quartz TPT, which makes it extremely resistant and light and pays tribute to McLaren's signature colour. The car shows in the details: the titanium chronograph pushers echo the headlights of the McLaren 720S, titanium inserts on the bezel at 12 and 6 o'clock take the shape of the McLaren F1's air-intake snorkel and carry the McLaren logo, and the grade 5 titanium crown is shaped like a lightweight McLaren wheel. The rubber strap, developed for this edition, carries the McLaren Speedmark logo. The launch specifications give the tonneau case as 49.94 x 44.50 x 16.23 mm.

Inside is the skeletonised automatic calibre RMAC3, which Richard Mille introduced in 2016 with the RM 11-03 that replaced the RM 011. It has a flyback chronograph with a 60-minute countdown timer at 9 o'clock and a 12-hour totaliser, and an annual calendar with an oversize date and a month indicator. The grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges keep the gear train rigid, two barrels mounted in parallel give about 55 hours of power reserve, the variable-inertia balance runs at 4 Hz, and the variable-geometry rotor lets the winding be set to the wearer's activity. The edition was limited to 500 pieces, launched at CHF 180,000 plus tax and offered first to owners of McLaren's Ultimate Series cars, who could match the caseback number to their car's. Richard Mille now lists it among its historical models. Bizak & Co. is an independent dealer, not an authorized Richard Mille retailer.
