Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15450ST Guide: Prior 37 mm Steel Selfwinding, Dials and Prices in 2026

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15450ST 37 mm steel with blue Grande Tapisserie dial, reference 15450ST.OO.1256ST.03

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15450ST is the 37 mm stainless steel Royal Oak Selfwinding made from 2012 to 2022: an octagonal case under 10 mm thick, a Grande Tapisserie dial with a date at 3, the calibre 3120 and the integrated steel bracelet 1256ST. Audemars Piguet introduced it at the same time as the 41 mm 15400ST, creating the 37 mm size for the first time, and replaced it in 2022 with the 15550ST during the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary. It is the reference to look at if you want the current 37 mm proportions at a lower price, and because the two generations are nearly identical from the front it is also the reference most often confused with the 15550ST. This guide covers the specifications, the three steel dial configurations, how the 15450ST compares with the 15550ST and with the 15400ST and 15300ST, dealer prices in 2026 and what to check before buying a watch that is now 4 to 14 years old. Bizak & Co. sources the 15450ST to order; the Royal Oak collection lists the configurations we can seek.

Why did Audemars Piguet make a 37 mm Royal Oak?

Until 2012 the Royal Oak Selfwinding came in 39 mm (the 15300ST) and the Jumbo (15202ST), with smaller cases reserved for the ladies' quartz and automatic models. When the 15300ST grew into the 41 mm 15400ST that year, the brand added the 15450ST at 37 mm so that the range still had a size for smaller wrists and for buyers who found the 41 mm too large. The 37 mm used the same calibre 3120 as the 41 mm, the same Grande Tapisserie dial and the same bracelet construction, scaled down. The result was a watch that split the difference between the Jumbo's proportions and the 41 mm's features, and it sold well enough that the 37 mm size survived the 2022 overhaul as the 15550ST.

Which 15450ST dial configurations does Bizak list?

The steel 15450ST was offered in three dials over its ten-year run. The .01 is the silver-toned dial, which some listings describe as white; it is a bright silver with a faint warmth and the colour in the photographs is the guide. The .02 is slate grey, a dark dial that reads black in low light. The .03 is the blue dial, which arrived later and is the most requested. On October 4, 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed all three, sourced to order:

Configuration Dial Condition Bizak catalogue ask, 4 Oct 2026
15450ST.OO.1256ST.01 Silver-toned Pre-owned US$27,899
15450ST.OO.1256ST.02 Slate grey Brand new, old stock US$29,759
15450ST.OO.1256ST.03 Blue Pre-owned US$33,944

The three asks mix a pre-owned silver dial, an unworn slate grey dial and a pre-owned blue dial, so the order reflects dial demand as much as condition: the blue dial carried the highest ask on the day despite being pre-owned. The suffix after 1256ST is the dial code and nothing else; all three are the same reference.

From across a room the two are the same watch. Up close, the dial logo placement is the quickest tell, followed by the rotor through the caseback and the bracelet clasp. The 15450ST is usually the cheaper of the two by a wide margin on the secondary market, and for a buyer who wants the 37 mm Royal Oak rather than the latest calibre, it is the value choice. The 15550ST brings the faster-beating 5900 and current-production servicing support, and the first-year anniversary rotor if that matters to you. Our 15550ST guide covers the current reference.

All three share the calibre 3120, so the choice is about size. The 15300ST at 39 mm is the closest in diameter to the Jumbo and has a following of its own; the 15400ST at 41 mm is the big-wrist option and the one that was replaced by the 15500ST and then the 15510ST. The 15450ST is the smallest of the three and the thinnest-feeling on the wrist, and it was in production the longest.

How does the 37 mm Royal Oak 15450ST wear?

The Royal Oak's octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet make it sit wider than a round watch of the same diameter, so the 15450ST occupies about the footprint of a 39 mm round case. On a wrist of 15 to 17 cm (5.9 to 6.7 inches) it fills the wrist without overhang; larger wrists carry it as a compact watch. The case is thin enough to pass under a cuff, which the 41 mm does less easily. The bracelet 1256ST tapers to the clasp and shares the case's brushed-and-polished finishing, which shows wear on the polished bevels quickly, and a bracelet that has been shortened and not kept its links is a common issue on ten-year-old examples. The 15450ST was sold as unisex and is worn by men and women in similar numbers.

How much is a Royal Oak 15450ST? Dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. The 15450ST has been discontinued since 2022, so there is no current list price. Its successor, the 15550ST on the Audemars Piguet collection pages linked above, carries the brand's current price for the 37 mm steel Selfwinding, which has sat in the high US$20,000s in 2025 and 2026.
  • Secondary market. In 2025 and 2026, 15450ST examples have generally been asked at or a little above the former list price, with the blue dial at the top and the silver-toned dial at the bottom. The premium over the former list is much smaller than on the current 15550ST, which is the main reason to consider the older reference.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On October 4, 2026 our sourced catalogue listed a pre-owned silver-toned dial at US$27,899, an unworn slate grey dial at US$29,759 and a pre-owned blue dial at US$33,944, all sourced to order.

Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact dial, year and set; our Audemars Piguet price guide explains how to compare quotes across the Royal Oak range.

Is the Royal Oak 15450ST a good investment?

It is a watch to own rather than to trade. Discontinued steel Royal Oaks tend to hold their value because production has stopped and demand for the 37 mm size has grown since the 15550ST raised its profile, but the 15450ST has never carried the premium of the Jumbo or the 41 mm and the secondary market cooled from its 2022 peak through 2024. The examples that hold best are full sets with the blue dial and an untouched bracelet. If resale matters, keep the box, the warranty card and every link, and ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying a used 15450ST: what to check

  • Reference and suffix. The warranty card and the caseback must read 15450ST.OO.1256ST followed by .01, .02 or .03. A 15550ST looks identical from the front; the dial logo at 12 confirms the 15450ST.
  • Bezel. The Royal Oak bezel is octagonal and flat, with eight white gold screws that should sit aligned and unmarked. Any listing that describes the bezel as domed is in error; the 15450ST has never had one.
  • Case bevels. The polished chamfers along the case and bracelet should be crisp and even; rounded bevels and a mirror-smooth brushed finish mean refinishing, which is common on ten-year-old examples.
  • Bracelet. Count the links against the original length and check for play between links; missing links are costly to replace from Audemars Piguet.
  • Service. The 3120 runs about 60 hours on a full wind; a watch from 2012 to 2016 is due or overdue for its first service, so ask for the service history and factor the cost in if there is none.
  • Rotor and caseback. Through the display back the 22 ct gold rotor should be unmarked and the movement free of corrosion or scratched screw heads.
  • Price against the band. A full-set blue dial offered well under the dated asks above is the single most reliable warning sign.

Quick answers

How much is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15450ST?

There is no current retail price; the 15450ST was discontinued in 2022. Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the three steel dials from US$27,899 to US$33,944 on October 4, 2026, sourced to order.

What is the difference between the 15450ST and the 15550ST?

Both are 37 mm steel Royal Oak Selfwinding models. The 15450ST, from 2012 to 2022, has the calibre 3120, the applied logo at 12 and bracelet 1256ST; the 15550ST, from 2022, has the calibre 5900, the monogram at 6 and bracelet 1356ST.

What movement is in the Royal Oak 15450ST?

The Audemars Piguet calibre 3120, an in-house automatic running at 3 Hz with about 60 hours of power reserve and a 22 ct gold rotor, shared with the 41 mm 15400ST.

Which dials did the 15450ST come in?

Three in steel: the .01 silver-toned, the .02 slate grey and the .03 blue, all with the Grande Tapisserie pattern. Two-tone and gold versions carry different reference suffixes.

No. Every Royal Oak bezel is flat and octagonal with eight exposed screws; a description of a domed bezel is a listing error, not a variant.
