Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15510ST Up Close: Steel 41 mm Selfwinding Guide

|Filip Biczak
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 41 mm 15510ST in stainless steel with blue Grande Tapisserie dial

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15510ST is the current steel Royal Oak Selfwinding 41 mm: a 41 mm stainless steel case 10.4 mm thick, a Grande Tapisserie dial with applied markers and a date at 3, the in-house calibre 4302 with 70 hours of power reserve, and the integrated steel bracelet that defines the Royal Oak. Audemars Piguet introduced it in 2022 for the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary, replacing the 15500ST that had carried the same case since 2019. This guide covers the specifications, what changed from the 15500ST, the dial colours and reference codes, how the 15510ST compares with the 15400ST, the 39 mm 15300ST and the Jumbo, how it wears, list and dealer prices in 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 15510ST to order; the Royal Oak collection lists the configurations we can seek.

What changed from the 15500ST to the 15510ST?

The 15510ST kept the 41 mm case, the 10.4 mm profile and the calibre 4302 of the 15500ST; the changes are on the dial and the rotor. The dial was redrawn for the anniversary year: the Audemars Piguet signature is printed at 12 and the applied AP monogram sits at 6, where the 15500ST carried the monogram and name together at 12. Markers and hands were reproportioned to the new layout and the date window was tidied to sit more evenly against the Tapisserie pattern. Through the caseback, 2022 examples show a dedicated rotor engraved "50 years" for the anniversary; later production reverted to the standard pink gold rotor. The bracelet and clasp are the same design. In practice the two watches are close siblings, and the choice between them comes down to the dial you prefer and the price you are asked. The 15500ST guide covers the earlier watch.

Which 15510ST dial? The .01 to .10 codes explained

Dial Codes Bizak catalogue ask, October 4, 2026
Blue .01 and .06 US$60,254 and US$70,555
Black .02 and .07 US$47,524 and US$56,650
Silver-toned .03 and .08 US$48,924 and US$56,421
Green .04 and .09 US$60,676 and US$59,740
Grey .05 and .10 US$53,560 and US$54,223

All ten are the same watch: steel case, calibre 4302, steel bracelet. The .01 to .05 codes are the five colours as launched; the .06 to .10 codes repeat them and are generally understood to mark production after the anniversary year with the standard rotor, so ask for a caseback photograph if the "50 years" rotor matters to you. Blue is the Royal Oak dial most buyers picture and the one most requested; black and silver-toned are the easier ones to source and have been asked at the lowest figures; green and grey are the newer colours with a smaller but keen following. The asks above are sourced to order and reflect condition, set and the date of listing as much as the colour.

The 15510ST is the one to buy new: the calibre 4302 runs at 4 Hz with 70 hours of reserve and has a sapphire caseback to show it, where the 3120 of the 15400ST and 15300ST ran at 3 Hz with 60 hours. The 15400ST is the value route to a 41 mm Royal Oak and is marginally thinner. The 15300ST is the 39 mm option for smaller wrists and the one closest in proportion to the original 1972 watch without paying for a Jumbo; the 15300ST guide covers it. If you want a chronograph in the same case, the 26331ST guide is the place to start.

15510ST or the Jumbo 16202ST?

The Jumbo is the 39 mm, 8.1 mm Royal Oak Extra-Thin, the direct descendant of the 1972 original, with the Petite Tapisserie dial and no seconds hand; the 16202ST of 2022 replaced the 15202ST and carries the calibre 7121. The 15510ST is 2 mm wider and 2.3 mm thicker, has a central seconds hand and a Grande Tapisserie dial, and costs considerably less at list. The Jumbo is the collector's Royal Oak and commands a larger premium on the secondary market; the 15510ST is the Royal Oak to wear daily, with a sturdier movement and a more legible dial. Most first-time Royal Oak buyers are better served by the 15510ST unless the Jumbo's history is the whole point.

How does the Royal Oak 15510ST wear?

At 41 mm the Royal Oak wears closer to a 40 mm round watch than the number suggests, because the integrated bracelet drops straight down from the case and the lug-to-lug is short. At 10.4 mm it slides under a shirt cuff. The bracelet is the reason to buy a Royal Oak: it tapers from the case to the clasp, the links are individually finished with brushed tops and polished bevels, and the whole thing moves like fabric. The clasp has no on-the-fly extension, so sizing is done by removing links, which AP or a competent watchmaker should do rather than the buyer. Wrists from about 16 cm to 19 cm (6.3 to 7.5 inches) carry it well; below that, the 39 mm 15300ST or a Jumbo may suit better. The brushed surfaces mark easily and the polished bevels show every knock, which is why unpolished examples are prized.

How much is a Royal Oak 15510ST? List and dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. Audemars Piguet publishes the list price for each 15510ST reference on its collection page, linked above. Steel Royal Oaks are allocated to established boutique clients, and a walk-in buyer should expect a long wait rather than a sale.
  • Secondary market. Through 2025 and 2026, unworn and lightly worn 15510ST examples have generally been asked well above list, with blue and green at the top of the range and black and silver-toned at the bottom. The premium has narrowed from its 2022 peak but has not closed.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On October 4, 2026 our sourced catalogue listed ten steel 15510ST examples from US$47,524 for a black dial to US$70,555 for a blue dial, with silver-toned from US$48,924, grey from US$53,560 and green from US$59,740, all sourced to order. The spread reflects dial, condition, set and date of listing.

Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact dial, year and set; our Audemars Piguet price guide explains how to compare quotes.

Is the Royal Oak 15510ST a good investment?

It is a watch to own rather than to trade. A steel Royal Oak bought above list has already paid the premium, and the premium has been drifting down since 2022, so the buyer who holds for a few years should expect to get most of the money back rather than a profit. The blue dial has held value best, followed by green; black and silver-toned are cheaper to buy and cheaper to sell. A full-set, unpolished example with the warranty card is the one that resells cleanly. If resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit, and read our Royal Oak collecting guide for how the references have moved.

Buying a used 15510ST: what to check

  • Reference and card. The full reference on the warranty card should match the dial colour of the watch and the serial on the caseback; AP does not reissue cards, and an extract from the archives takes time.
  • Bezel screws. The eight white gold screws should be aligned as AP sets them and free of tool marks; damaged screw heads are a sign of amateur work.
  • Case finishing. The polished bevels on the case and bezel should be crisp and the brushed surfaces even; rounded bevels or inconsistent brushing mean polishing, which on a Royal Oak is difficult to do well outside AP.
  • Bracelet. Links should sit tight with no play; check the polished bevels on every link, the clasp for scratches and the number of links present, since removed links are expensive to replace.
  • Dial and rotor. The Tapisserie pattern should be even and the applied markers undamaged; confirm through the caseback whether the rotor is the "50 years" anniversary type or the standard one, and that it matches the year on the card.
  • Movement. The 4302 should run within a few seconds a day and the date should jump cleanly; ask whether the watch has been serviced and by whom.
  • Price against the band. A full-set blue 15510ST offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.
