Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph 5924G-010, white gold, khaki green dial, olive green strap

Short answer: The Patek Philippe 5924G is the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph: a 42 mm white gold watch that combines a flyback chronograph, a second time zone with local and home hour hands, and a date coupled to local time. It comes in two dial versions, a sunburst blue-gray 5924G-001 and a lacquered khaki green 5924G-010, and it is the chronograph step up from the simpler 5524 Pilot Travel Time. Every watch we handle is sourced to order.

What is the Patek Philippe 5924G?

The 5924G is Patek's Pilot-style travel watch with a chronograph added. It sits in the Patek Philippe complications family and borrows its look from the aviator watches Patek made in the 1930s, according to the maker: large luminous Arabic numerals, sword-style hands and a clevis prong buckle. Three functions share one dial: a flyback chronograph with a central hand, a Travel Time second time zone, and a date that follows local time. Patek presented the reference in 2023, and it is a distinct model from the 5524, not a replacement for it.

What are the 5924G dial options, including khaki green?

There are two white gold versions on Patek's site, and the dial and strap are what separate them. The 5924G-010 has a lacquered khaki green dial on an olive green calfskin strap with a vintage finish. The 5924G-001 has a sunburst blue-gray dial on grained navy blue calfskin with contrasting cream stitching. Both use white gold applied numerals filled with luminescent coating, and both close on a white gold clevis prong buckle.

Reference Dial Strap Hands
5924G-010 Lacquered khaki green Olive green calfskin, vintage finish, cream stitching White gold sword-style local hand with luminescence; skeletonized white gold home hand
5924G-001 Sunburst blue-gray Grained navy blue calfskin, cream stitching Blued white gold sword-style local hand with luminescence; skeletonized white gold home hand

The green is the more distinctive of the two and reads as military in daylight. The blue-gray is calmer and closer to a classic dress-chronograph look. We cover other metals and dial variants of the family in our Patek Philippe Calatrava range.

How does the Travel Time chronograph work?

The watch shows two time zones at once and lets you time events without disturbing either. The solid sword-style hand shows local time and the skeletonized hand shows home time. Each has a day and night window, so you can tell at a glance whether it is morning where you left. The two enlarged correction push-pieces at 8 and 10 o'clock move only the local hour hand, leaving home time untouched.

The flyback chronograph adds a different convenience. With the chronograph running, a single press of the reset pusher returns the hand to zero and restarts it at once, so you can time consecutive intervals without a stop-reset-start sequence. The minutes accumulate in the counter at 6 o'clock. Because the date sits in its own subdial at 12 o'clock and follows local time, it stays correct after you change zones. For step-by-step setting and the care rules Patek publishes, use the manual supplied with the watch.

How is the 5924G different from the 5524?

The 5924G adds the chronograph, and almost everything else changes to make room for it. The 5524 is the simpler Pilot Travel Time with locking pushers, and our 5524 Calatrava Pilot Travel Time guide covers it in detail.

Feature 5524 5924
Complications Travel Time, date Travel Time, flyback chronograph, date
Case diameter 42 mm 42 mm
Thickness 10.78 mm (current models) 13.05 mm
Calibre 26-330 S C FUS CH 28-520 C FUS
Power reserve 35 to 45 hours 45 to 55 hours
Date position 6 o'clock Subdial at 12 o'clock
Water resistance 30 m 30 m

The practical consequences are weight and profile. The extra 2.27 mm of height is noticeable under a fitted cuff, and the 5924 asks for a bit more deliberation when setting local time. In return you get a chronograph and a longer power reserve.

Who is the 5924G for?

It suits a buyer who wants one watch that can travel, time things and still sit comfortably in white gold. It is a good fit if you fly regularly and care about a second time zone, if you like the Pilot look but want more function than the 5524, or if you want a Patek chronograph with a casual, sporty tone. It is less obvious if you want the thinnest possible profile, in which case the 5524 is the better answer, or if you want a steel sports watch with a bracelet.
