The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001 is a 40 mm white gold time-and-date watch with a textured charcoal gray dial, white gold Arabic numerals and syringe hands coated in beige luminescent material, and a hobnail (Clous de Paris) pattern guilloched around the whole caseband. It runs on the self-winding calibre 26-330 S C with sweep seconds, a date at 3 o'clock and a stop-seconds function. Patek Philippe introduced it in 2022 and it remains in the current collection: patek.com listed it at US$47,262 on October 12, 2026. Bizak & Co. sources it to order from $46,977 new; reserve the Calatrava 5226G-001 or compare the full Patek Philippe Calatrava collection.

What makes the 5226G-001 different from other Calatravas
The classic time-only Calatrava is a dress watch: a plain dial (lacquered or opaline on the 5227, satin-finished or grained on the 6119), faceted gold hour markers and dauphine hands. The 5226G-001 keeps the round Calatrava case and gives it a field-watch dial. The charcoal gray surface has a grainy texture that Patek compares to vintage camera cases, and it darkens to black toward the edge. The white gold Arabic numerals and syringe hands carry a beige luminescent coating, so the time stays readable in the dark, which neither the 5227 nor the 6119 offers. The date sits in a small window at 3 o'clock.
The case carries the second signature. Patek's hobnail guilloché, the grid of tiny pyramids also called Clous de Paris, is best known on the bezel of Calatravas such as the 6119. On the 5226G it runs around the entire caseband instead, and to keep the pattern unbroken the lugs are part of the case back rather than the middle case. The same case and dial treatment appear at 41 mm on the 5326G-001 Annual Calendar Travel Time, presented alongside it in 2022; the 5226G is the simpler, thinner and less expensive of the pair.
5226G vs 5227 vs 6119: which Calatrava should you buy?
Buyers most often weigh these three time-only Calatravas against each other. All are gold and 39 to 40 mm, but they answer different briefs.
| 5226G-001 | 5227 (5227J-001, 5227G-015) | 6119 (6119G-001, 6119R-001) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case | 40 mm white gold, 8.53 mm; hobnail caseband | 39 mm, 9.24 mm; hinged dust cover over the sapphire back | 39 mm, 8.08 mm; hobnail bezel |

| Dial and hands | Textured charcoal gray; luminous Arabic numerals and syringe hands | Ivory lacquer (5227J) or rose-gilt opaline (5227G-015); faceted markers, dauphine hands | Charcoal gray satin (6119G) or silvery grained (6119R); obus markers, dauphine hands |
| Strap | Two calfskin straps | Alligator | Alligator |

Choose the 5226G-001 if you want a Calatrava to wear with jeans and read at night: Patek lists luminescent coating only on this one of the three, and the two straps change its character. Choose the 5227J-001 or 5227G-015 for the classic dress watch with a hinged dust cover over the movement; the earlier black-dial 5227G-010 and ivory-dial 5227R-001 are now marked discontinued by Patek, and Bizak sources them from $40,118 and $43,200. Choose the 6119G-001 for a thinner hand-wound watch with a 65-hour reserve and the hobnail on the bezel, at the lowest list price of the three.
How the 5226G-001 wears
At 40 mm by 8.53 mm the 5226G is large for a Calatrava but slim for its diameter, and because the lugs belong to the case back, the hobnail band runs unbroken around the side of the case. Patek Philippe does not publish the lug width; strap maker Delugs lists it as 21 mm, so a third strap should be 21 mm at the lugs. The textured dial and beige lume look casual rather than formal, so it suits a jacket and jeans better than a dinner suit; the black fabric-pattern strap with beige stitching dresses it up a step. It is rated to 30 m, which covers rain and hand-washing but not swimming, and the calfskin straps, the nubuck one especially, should be kept away from water. On wrists below about 16 cm (6.3 inches), the 39 mm 6119 or 5227 will usually sit better.
How much is the Patek Philippe 5226G-001 in 2026?
- Retail. The launch price reported in April 2022 was US$39,033. Patek Philippe's website listed US$47,262 on October 12, 2026, about 21 percent higher. Retail is set by Patek Philippe, so check the current figure on patek.com.
- Bizak. Our sourced catalogue lists the 5226G-001 from $46,977 new, sourced to order. The 41 mm 5326G-001, which shares the case design and dial, is listed at US$92,023 on patek.com and sourced by Bizak from $70,568 pre-owned.
- Pre-owned. Completed auction sales recorded by EveryWatch from November 2025 to September 2026 ran from about US$31,000 (Christie's, Hong Kong, November 2025) to about US$40,500 (a US online auction, January 2026); the most recent, in September 2026, closed at US$37,275. That is roughly 15 to 35 percent under today's list price and mostly at or below the 2022 launch price. Dealer asking prices are not sales, so weigh them against these results. Bizak also sources pre-owned examples with papers to order: tell us your budget.
- What moves the price. The year on the Certificate of Origin, whether both straps and the white gold buckle are present, unworn or worn condition, and the box. A 5226G without its second strap or papers is worth less to the next buyer.

Buying a 5226G-001: what to check
- Certificate of Origin. The case and movement numbers on the papers must match the watch. The reference dates from 2022, so earlier papers are a red flag.
- Both straps and the buckle. The watch was delivered with the beige nubuck and black fabric-pattern calfskin straps and a white gold prong buckle.
- Hobnail caseband. The guilloché pyramids should be crisp all the way round. Polishing softens them, so ask whether the case has been polished.
- Lume. The beige coating on the numerals and hands should match in tone; a mismatch points to a replaced hand or dial.
- Stop seconds and date. Pulling the crown to the time-setting position should stop the seconds hand, and the date should change cleanly around midnight.
