What does the CH 29-535 PS Q movement do?
The calibre combines two of the most demanded complications in one hand-wound movement. The chronograph is a column-wheel design with a central seconds hand and an instantaneous 30-minute counter, the architecture Patek Philippe introduced in 2009 with the CH 29-535 PS and later extended with the perpetual calendar in 2011. The calendar shows the day and month, the leap year cycle and a day and night indicator in apertures, while the date is read from a hand and the moon phase is displayed as well. A perpetual calendar is programmed to allow for months of different lengths and leap years, so under normal use it needs no correction until the year 2100, which is not a leap year. Because the movement is wound by hand, the wearer turns the crown regularly; Patek Philippe recommends winding a manual watch each morning.

The movement is the same across all of them, so the decision is design and dial. The newer references carry a more contemporary case and a coloured lacquer dial; the 5270P-001 is the earlier, quieter execution with a light dial.
