Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118/1A Review: Steel 35.2 mm Guide (2026)

|Filip Biczak
Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118/1A-001 35.2 mm steel with blue dial

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118/1A is the steel ladies' Nautilus: a 35.2 mm case about 8.6 mm thick with the porthole bezel and the horizontally embossed dial of the 1976 original, a date at 3, sweep seconds, the self-winding calibre 324 S C and an integrated steel bracelet. Patek Philippe introduced it in 2015 to replace the quartz 7010/1A, and it remains in the catalogue in 2026 in three steel dial colours: blue (7118/1A-001), silvery opaline (7118/1A-010) and grey (7118/1A-011). It is the smaller mechanical sibling of the discontinued 40 mm 5711/1A and the plain-bezel twin of the diamond-set 7118/1200A. This guide covers the specifications, the three dials, what changed from the 7010, how the 7118/1A compares with the 5711/1A and the 7118/1200A, how it wears, retail and dealer prices in 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 7118/1A to order; the Nautilus collection lists the configurations we can seek.

What is the Nautilus 7118/1A?

The 7118/1A is the Nautilus Patek Philippe makes for smaller wrists. The design is the one Gerald Genta drew in 1976 for the 3700: a case with two "ears" at 9 and 3 that recall a ship's porthole hinges, a rounded octagonal bezel, a dial with fine horizontal relief and an integrated bracelet that tapers to a fold-over clasp. At 35.2 mm it is a few millimetres smaller than the 5711/1A, and it is the only current steel Nautilus with the time, date and sweep seconds layout since the 5711 left the catalogue in 2021. The movement is the calibre 324 S C, the same self-winding calibre Patek used in the 5711 and in the Aquanaut 5167, visible through a sapphire case back. Patek Philippe lists the watch in its ladies' collection, but the size and the lack of gem-setting make it a watch that men with wrists under about 17 cm buy and wear without comment.

Which 7118/1A dial: blue, silvery opaline or grey?

Reference Dial Notes
7118/1A-001 Blue, horizontally embossed The signature Nautilus colour and the most requested; reads darker than the 5711's blue in low light
7118/1A-010 Silvery opaline, horizontally embossed The dressiest of the three and the one that shows the relief pattern most clearly
7118/1A-011 Grey, horizontally embossed The quietest; added after the blue and opaline and usually the easiest of the three to source

All three share the case, movement and bracelet, and Patek Philippe prices them the same at retail. The secondary market pays most for the blue, because it is the colour the Nautilus is known for, and least for whichever of the opaline and grey is more plentiful at the time. Buyers who want a Nautilus that is not obviously a Nautilus from across a room often choose the grey.

What changed from the 7010/1A to the 7118/1A?

  • Movement. The 7010/1A used the quartz calibre E 23-250 S C; the 7118/1A uses the self-winding calibre 324 S C with a sapphire case back. This was the main point of the 2015 update.
  • Size. The 7010/1A was 32 mm; the 7118/1A grew to 35.2 mm and about 8.6 mm thick to house the automatic movement.
  • Bezel. The 7010/1A's bezel was set with diamonds; the 7118/1A offers a plain steel bezel for the first time on a ladies' steel Nautilus, with the diamond bezel moved to the 7118/1200A.
  • Dial. Both have the horizontally embossed Nautilus pattern; the 7118/1A's larger dial carries longer applied markers and a date window at 3 with a white frame.

The 7010/1A is still worth considering for a buyer who wants the smallest Nautilus and a quartz movement; everyone else wants the 7118/1A.

7118/1A vs 5711/1A: ladies' Nautilus or men's?

The 7118/1A is the only way to buy a new steel Nautilus with the classic three-hand layout from Patek Philippe in 2026, because the 5711/1A is gone and its replacement is white gold. It costs far less than a pre-owned 5711/1A and it is obtainable, with patience, through an authorised dealer. The 5711 guide covers the larger watch and its market.

7118/1A vs 7118/1200A: plain bezel or diamonds?

The 7118/1200A is the same 35.2 mm steel watch with the same calibre 324 S C and a bezel set with diamonds. The dial colours overlap, with the blue 7118/1200A-001 the best known. The diamond bezel adds to the retail price and to the secondary price, and it changes the character of the watch from a small sports watch to a jewelled one. Buyers who want the Nautilus design without ornament choose the 7118/1A; buyers who want a visible step up in luxury choose the 7118/1200A. Note that some listings compact the reference by dropping the slash, so 71181200A and 7118/1200A are the same watch, and that the 7118/1450 series in rose or white gold with pave diamonds is a different and much more expensive proposition, covered in our 7118/1450R review.

How does the Nautilus 7118/1A wear?

At 35.2 mm with the Nautilus's wide bezel and integrated bracelet, the 7118/1A wears larger than a round 35 mm watch would. On a wrist of 15 to 17 cm (5.9 to 6.7 inches) it sits as a well-proportioned sports watch; on larger wrists it reads as deliberately small, which some buyers want and others do not. At about 8.6 mm thick it slides under any cuff. The bracelet tapers from the case to a fold-over clasp with a Nautilus relief, and the links articulate freely. The screw-down crown and 60 m rating make it an everyday watch rather than a dress watch, though the polished bezel marks easily and shows every hairline.

How much is a Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118/1A? Retail and dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. Patek Philippe publishes the price of the 7118/1A on the product pages linked above, and it is the same for all three dials. In 2026 that figure has sat in the mid US$30,000s to low US$40,000s depending on market and currency; check the Patek page for the current number. Allocation at an authorised dealer takes time but is realistic for established clients.
  • Secondary market. Because retail supply is short, unworn and lightly worn 7118/1A examples have generally been asked at a substantial premium to retail through 2025 and 2026, with the blue dial at the top. The premium is smaller than on the 5711/1A at its peak but still a multiple of what most steel sports watches carry.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On October 4, 2026 our sourced catalogue listed the blue 7118/1A-001 at US$86,932, the silvery opaline 7118/1A-010 at US$100,425 and the grey 7118/1A-011 at US$80,131, all sourced to order. The spread reflects dial, condition and what comes with the watch, not a market median.

Those figures describe what we saw on that date and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact dial, year and set; our Patek Philippe price guide explains how to read a quote against the market.

Buying a 7118/1A: what to check

  • Reference and dial. The certificate of origin should read 7118/1A followed by -001, -010 or -011, with the case and movement numbers matching the watch. Match the dial colour to the suffix; Patek does not swap dials between references.
  • Bezel and case. The polished bezel and the brushed case flanks should show crisp transitions. A refinished bezel loses the sharp inner edge where it meets the crystal.
  • Movement. Through the case back the calibre 324 S C should show the Patek Philippe Seal engraving on the rotor or bridges and clean Geneva stripes. Ask for the service history; a watch sold new in 2015 or 2016 is approaching its first service.
  • Bracelet and clasp. Check for stretch, for scratches on the polished centre links and for a clasp that closes with a positive click. Patek bracelets are sized by links, so a short bracelet limits who can wear it.
  • Date and seconds. The date should change crisply around midnight and the seconds hand should sweep without stutter.
  • Papers. The certificate of origin, the stamped dealer card and the box add to value and simplify resale; an extract from the Patek archives can confirm an undocumented watch.
  • Price against the band. A full-set blue dial offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.

Our authentication process describes what we inspect before dispatch, and the Patek Philippe authentication guide covers the archive extract process.
