The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 is a 40 mm time-and-date sports watch with an integrated bracelet, produced from 2006 until 2021. It is the reference that turned the Nautilus from a connoisseur's watch into the most requested steel watch in the world, and it is now sold only on the secondary market. What is the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711?

The 5711 was launched in 2006 for the 30th anniversary of the original Nautilus 3700 of 1976, the Gérald Genta design with the porthole case, the "ears" at 3 and 9 o'clock and the horizontally embossed dial. Compared with the 3700, the 5711 added a central seconds hand, grew the case to 40 mm (43 mm including the crown guard), thinned it to about 8.3 mm and gave it a sapphire display back. Water resistance is rated at 120 m.

Two movements were used. From 2006 to 2019 the 5711 ran caliber 315 S C; from 2019 the calibre 26-330 S C with a stop-seconds function and a redesigned date mechanism. Both are automatic with roughly 45 hours of power reserve. A 2019 or later watch is a 26-330; earlier watches are 315 S C, and the difference matters for servicing and for authenticating a "2020 full set".

Every Nautilus 5711 reference

The table lists the production references most buyers are searching for. Gem-set and unique pieces exist beyond it. The suffix after the reference is Patek's dial code, so 5711/1A-010 and 5711/1A-011 are the same watch with different dials.

How much is a Patek Philippe 5711? Prices in 2026

There is no single 5711 price. Separate the last retail price from what the watch costs today, and separate a dealer asking price from a completed sale.

• Last retail price. The steel 5711/1A-010 listed at about US$35,000 when it was discontinued in 2021. The rose gold 5711/1R-001 was roughly US$60,000 at retail.
• Secondary market, steel. Since the 2022 peak, clean full-set 5711/1A-010 examples have generally been asked in the low six figures in US dollars, with 2019 to 2021 watches on the 26-330 caliber at the upper end and earlier 315 S C watches without papers at the lower end. The green 5711/1A-014 trades above the blue because of its one-year run.
• Tiffany 5711/1A-018. The 170-piece double-signed watch is in a different category. Public auction results since 2021 have ranged from several million dollars for the first example to well into seven figures for later sales; private asks vary widely. Treat any figure as reference-specific and dated.
• Rose gold and platinum. The 5711/1R-001 has typically been asked between the steel blue and the steel green; the 5711/1P anniversary and gem-set platinum references are priced individually.

Is the Nautilus 5711 discontinued?

Yes. Patek Philippe confirmed in January 2021 that the 5711/1A-010 would leave the collection that year. The olive-green 5711/1A-014 was produced for the final year, and the Tiffany Blue 5711/1A-018 closed the run in December 2021. No 5711 has been made since. Thierry Stern, Patek's president, said the reference had become too dominant for a brand that makes fewer than 70,000 watches a year and that the Nautilus is one collection among many.

The Nautilus collection itself continues. What ended was the 5711 reference, not the family.

What replaced the 5711? The 5811/1G-001

In October 2022 Patek introduced the Nautilus 5811/1G-001: a 41 mm white gold time-and-date Nautilus on a white gold bracelet with a new fold-over clasp and a 2 to 4 mm adjustment system. It uses the same calibre 26-330 S C and the same blue-black gradient dial as the 5711/1A-010. It is not made in steel. Retail at launch was about US$70,000, and it has traded above that on the secondary market.

If you want the steel Nautilus, the secondary market is the only route. If you want a new Nautilus with a warranty from an authorised dealer, the 5811 is the answer, but expect a waitlist.

Why is the Patek 5711 so popular?

Four things stacked on top of each other. The design is a recognised Genta original, the same lineage as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. It is thin and comfortable, which most integrated-bracelet watches are not. Patek made very few, and authorised dealers allocated them to their best clients, so most buyers could not get one at retail. And from 2017 the secondary market price rose far above retail, which turned the watch into a public symbol of access. The discontinuation announcement in 2021 fixed the supply forever and pushed demand further.

5711 vs 5712, 5726 and 5980

Buyers who cannot find or justify a 5711 usually look at three other Nautilus references that remain in production.

• 5712/1A-001: 40 mm steel with moon phase, power reserve and pointer date. Off-centre dial, more expensive at retail, similar secondary premium.
• 5726/1A: 40.5 mm steel annual calendar with moon phase. The most complication for the money in steel.
• 5980: 40.5 mm flyback chronograph, steel (discontinued), two-tone 5980/1AR or rose gold 5980/1R.

All three are thicker than the 5711. If thinness and a clean dial are the point, no other Nautilus replaces it; the closest alternative is the Aquanaut 5167A, compared in our Nautilus vs Aquanaut guide.

What is the hardest Patek to get?

At retail, the steel sports watches: the 5811, the 5712, the 5726 and the Aquanaut 5167A all have multi-year waitlists at authorised dealers. On the secondary market the hardest are the limited runs, above all the Tiffany 5711/1A-018 (170 pieces) and the 5711/1P anniversary (700 pieces). The 5711/1A-010 itself is not hard to find second-hand; it is only hard to find at a price you like.

How to buy a 5711: what to check

• Reference and dial code. Confirm the full reference on the Certificate of Origin matches the watch: 5711/1A-010, not 5711/1A-001 (which does not exist) or a re-dialled 011.
• Year and caliber. Ask for the sale date on the certificate. A 2019 to 2021 watch should have the 26-330 S C visible through the caseback, with a stop-seconds function.
• Papers. The original Certificate of Origin cannot be reissued. An Extract from the Archives can be requested only for watches first sold more than ten years ago, so a 2018 5711 without papers stays without papers until 2028.
• Case and bracelet. The satin and polished surfaces of a Nautilus meet at sharp lines. Rounded transitions or a hazy brushed surface mean polishing, which reduces value. Check the bracelet for stretch and count the links.
• Dial. The blue-black gradient should darken evenly to the edge. Cloudiness or uneven fading suggests moisture or a replacement dial.
• Service history. A Patek service invoice adds value; an unknown third-party service does not.
