Rolex service cost in 2026: what Rolex charges, by model

A Rolex service in the US costs $660 to $1,430 for modern and classic models, and vintage models start at $1,650. Those are the prices Rolex now posts on its US website. Rolex calls them suggested prices, so the estimate you approve before work starts is the number that counts. Bizak & Co. does not service watches, so every figure here comes from Rolex or a named source. Bizak & Co. is a sourcing desk, not an authorized Rolex dealer: every watch here is found to order, not held in stock.

How much does a Rolex service cost?

A complete Rolex service costs $660 to $940 for modern models and $990 to $1,430 for classic models. Rolex sets the price by model family and production period. The digits in your reference number show which list applies. Six digits mean a modern model. Five mean a classic model. Four mean a vintage model. Two current models break this rule. The 1908 and the Padellone have five-digit references but sit on the modern list. Crown & Caliber reported the new price page on October 30, 2026. The table uses the Rolex US page as of November 2, 2026.

Model type Modern Rolex examples Modern, six-digit reference Classic, five-digit reference Against the base tier
Time only Air-King (modern list only), Oyster Perpetual 41 $660 $990 Base tier
Date Datejust 41 ref. 126334 $660 $990 Base tier
GMT GMT-Master II ref. 126710BLNR $770 $1,210 17 to 22 percent more
Dive Submariner Date ref. 126610LN $770 $1,210 17 to 22 percent more
Daytona chronograph Cosmograph Daytona ref. 126500LN $940 $1,430 Over 40 percent more
Day and date Day-Date, made only in precious metal $660 $990 Base tier

Rolex puts the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust in the same base tier. The Lady-Datejust, Explorer, Land-Dweller, 1908 and Milgauss sit there too. The Submariner Date and the GMT-Master II share the middle tier. So do the no-date Submariner, Explorer II, Sea-Dweller, Deepsea and Yacht-Master. Only the Daytona reaches the top on the classic list. On the modern list, the Deepsea Challenge, Padellone, Sky-Dweller and Yacht-Master II join it. A classic reference costs about half as much again as a modern one in the same tier. Check the reference number before you budget. Rolex can change these figures, so check its page before you book. You can browse the Rolex range to see references we can source.

What does a Rolex service include?

On modern and classic models, the base fee covers the movement work, a water-resistance test and routine parts. Rolex names screws, springs, wheels, lubricants, gaskets, tubes and acrylic crystals. On vintage models, the fee covers movement work and wear parts, but not work on the case, bracelet, dial or hands. The watchmaker takes the movement apart and checks every part. The watchmaker replaces worn parts with genuine Rolex parts and cleans each part in an ultrasonic bath. Then the watchmaker rebuilds, oils and adjusts the movement. The watch then runs a Rolex precision test of at least 24 hours and a pressure test in water. Rolex returns it with a Service Card and a two-year international guarantee on replacement parts and labor.

Some work costs extra. Repairs to the case and bracelet are not in the base fee. Rolex bills parts outside its list on top. Polishing and satin-finishing the case and bracelet is optional, and it adds $170 on modern and classic models. Rolex says only an Official Rolex Service Center should polish your case and bracelet. Bracelet sizing is free, but extra parts cost money. Estimates for modern and classic models are free.

Does a Daytona or a gold Rolex cost more to service?

A Daytona does, but a gold Rolex does not, at least on Rolex's own list. Rolex puts the Cosmograph Daytona in its top tier, over 40 percent above the base tier. The Daytona is a chronograph. A chronograph adds a stopwatch mechanism to the movement, so there is more to take apart, clean and adjust. The Sky-Dweller, with its annual calendar and second time zone, sits in the same top tier. Browse the Rolex Daytona range to see the models.

Gold does not change the base fee. On its modern list, Rolex puts the Day-Date, which comes only in precious metal, in the same tier as the Oystersteel Air-King. It lists the Daytona once, with no split by metal. Gold can still raise the final bill. Rolex bills case and bracelet repairs and parts outside the list on top, so ask what those would cost on a gold watch.

What does a vintage Rolex service cost?

A vintage Rolex service costs $1,650 to $8,810. Vintage means a four-digit reference. Rolex prices these watches by estimate and lists four steps: $1,650, $3,850, $5,500 and $8,810. The top step covers early chronographs and moon-phase models. Early Cosmograph, Submariner and GMT-Master references sit one step down. Polishing adds $330. If you decline a vintage estimate, Rolex charges a $280 analysis fee. Rolex can refuse a full overhaul on a worn watch and offer a restoration estimate instead. Its Restoration Atelier in Geneva handles that work and issues the estimate within three months. Declining that estimate carries a $2,200 fee.

Should you use Rolex or an independent watchmaker?

Use Rolex while the watch is inside its five-year guarantee. Rolex says that guarantee excludes damage from repairs or opening by anyone but an Official Rolex Jeweler or Service Center. It also excludes damage tied to parts that are not genuine Rolex parts. A complete Rolex service brings a Service Card and a two-year guarantee on parts and labor. An independent watchmaker sets their own price and guarantee. Prices vary by shop, so we give no range.

Pick Rolex if the guarantee still runs or you want the Service Card. Pick an independent watchmaker if the watch is older and you trust the shop. In that case, get the quote, the parts list and the guarantee in writing. Then compare the total with Rolex's list for your reference. Bizak & Co. does not service watches, so we have no stake in where you go. If you buy pre-owned, ask who did the last service. Our guide on how to spot a fake Rolex covers the other checks.

How long does a Rolex service take?

Rolex says to allow at least four to six weeks for a complete overhaul, depending on the watch's condition. A watchmaker examines the watch and writes an estimate. Work starts after you approve it. The precision test alone runs at least 24 hours. Plan to be without the watch for at least a month.

How does the interval change your Rolex servicing cost?

Rolex recommends a service about every ten years, depending on the model and real use. At that pace, a base-tier service on a modern Rolex costs $66 a year. A modern Daytona with polishing comes to about $111 a year. A classic reference costs about half as much again. Service every five years instead, and those yearly figures double. Over twenty years, two modern base-tier services come to $1,320, and two modern Daytona services with polishing come to $2,220.

For a pre-owned watch, ask when it was last serviced. With no record, treat a service as due and add it to your budget. Our guide to how often to service a Rolex covers the warning signs.
