Rolex Submariner 116610LN: Super Case Specs and Price Guide

|Filip Biczak
Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN with black Cerachrom bezel and Maxi dial

The Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN is the 40 mm Submariner with a black dial and a black Cerachrom ceramic bezel that Rolex made from 2010 until 2020: the first ceramic-bezel Submariner, with the broad "Super Case", the Maxi dial, the Glidelock clasp and the calibre 3135. It was replaced by the 41 mm 126610LN, so it is the prior generation of the Date model and now a pre-owned purchase. This guide covers the specifications, what the Super Case is, how the 116610LN compares with the 126610LN, the no-date 114060, the aluminium-bezel 16610 and the green-bezel Hulk, how it wears, what Bizak's catalogue asked on 1 October 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 116610LN to order; the Submariner collection lists what we can seek.

What is the Super Case on the 116610LN?

"Super Case" is the collector name for the heavier case that Rolex introduced on the Submariner in 2010, with broader lugs and wider crown guards than the 16610 that came before. It is not a separate Rolex reference. Together with the Maxi dial, whose larger hour markers fill more of the dial, it gives the 116610LN a more solid and more modern look than the aluminium-bezel Submariner. When the 126610LN arrived in 2020 Rolex kept the Maxi layout but slimmed the lugs and crown guards, so the Super Case look is specific to the 2010 to 2020 generation.

The 126610LN is the better watch on paper, with a longer reserve and a slimmer profile. The 116610LN is the one with the chunkier lugs, and it is usually the cheaper route to a black ceramic Date, which is why many buyers choose it.

Years 2010 to 2020 2012 to 2020 1988 to 2010 2010 to 2020

The 114060 is the no-date ceramic Submariner of the same era; the 16610 is the aluminium-bezel Date that the 116610LN replaced. The green-bezel Hulk is the 116610LV, a separate configuration with a green dial and bezel; the black 116610LN has no widely used nickname and should not be sold as a Hulk. The green-bezel Submariner Date that followed is the 126610LV, covered in our Starbucks guide, and the Kermit is the earlier 16610LV, covered in our Kermit guide.

How does the Submariner 116610LN wear?

The 116610LN wears larger than its 40 mm figure suggests, because the lugs and crown guards are broad and the Maxi dial reads wide. It sits balanced on wrists of roughly 16 to 18.5 cm (6.3 to 7.3 inches), and the Glidelock clasp lets you adjust the bracelet in small steps without tools. The ceramic bezel keeps its colour and resists scratches in a way an aluminium insert does not, and the Cyclops makes the date easy to read. It is a substantial, confident watch that suits both a suit and a wetsuit. The lug flanks show polishing quickly under raking light, so check the chamfers on a pre-owned example.

How much is a Rolex Submariner 116610LN? Dated prices

  • Retail. Rolex has discontinued the 116610LN and no longer lists a price for it; the current Submariner prices are on the Rolex page linked above.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On 1 October 2026 our sourced catalogue listed a 116610LN at US$13,530 and a pre-owned 116610LN at US$12,650, both sourced to order. The difference reflects condition and what comes with the watch.
  • What moves the price. A full set with box and card, a clean unpolished case, a bracelet without stretch and a recent service each add; polishing, a stretched bracelet or missing papers each subtract.

Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Our Q2 2026 wholesale report does not print a figure for the 116610LN, so we do not quote a market median, and the Hulk figures in that report should not be applied to this reference. Ask for a dated quote for the exact year and set; our Submariner price guide explains how to compare quotes.

Is the 116610LN a good investment?

It is a watch to wear. The 116610LN has been discontinued since 2020, which fixes supply, but a ten-year production run means plenty of examples exist. The buyers who are happiest with one choose it for the proportions and the black ceramic bezel, then pick a complete, lightly polished example. If resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying a used 116610LN: what to check

  • Reference and card. The card and case should read 116610LN, not 126610LN, 114060, 16610 or the green 116610LV; the card date should match the year in the quote.
  • Bezel. Black Cerachrom with crisp numerals and no chips on the edge; check it rotates in one direction only with 120 clicks.
  • Date window. There should be a date with Cyclops; a no-date dial means a 114060.
  • Case. Sharp lug chamfers and even brushing; Super Case flanks show polish rounds quickly.
  • Bracelet and clasp. Check for stretch, and make sure the Glidelock and diver's extension move smoothly and the clasp cover is not deeply scratched.
  • Service history. Ask for the last service receipt and pressure-test date; budget for a service if there is no record.
  • Price against the band. A complete 116610LN offered well below the asks above is the most reliable warning sign.
