Patek Philippe Aquanaut Prices by Reference in 2026

Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A-001 in steel with black embossed dial on black composite strap

The price of a Patek Philippe Aquanaut in 2026 depends on the reference, the metal and whether the watch is new or discontinued. The steel 5167A-001, the reference most people mean when they ask, has a retail price in the low-to-mid US$20,000s and was asked at US$86,519 brand new in our sourced catalogue on 21 September 2026, roughly three to four times list, because authorised dealers allocate it to established clients. The larger 5168G in white gold, the 5164 Travel Time, the 5968 chronograph and the Luce ladies' models each sit in their own bands, and the discontinued 5060, 5065 and 5066 are the value route into the line. This guide sets out dated asks for every Aquanaut family, explains why the steel watch trades where it does, compares the Aquanaut with the Nautilus and lists what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the Aquanaut to order; the Aquanaut collection lists the configurations we can seek.

All figures are asks for watches sourced to order, not sales, and they move; the reference for current specifications and list prices is the Patek Philippe Aquanaut collection page. Our Aquanaut 5167 guide covers the steel watch in detail.

How much is a steel Aquanaut 5167A-001 in 2026, and why so much more than retail?

Patek's US list price for the 5167A-001 has sat in the low-to-mid US$20,000s in recent years, which makes it the least expensive men's Patek at retail. The secondary ask is a multiple of that because the steel Aquanaut is the entry point to the brand, because Patek makes far fewer than the market wants, and because since the steel Nautilus 5711 was discontinued in 2021 the 5167A has absorbed demand from buyers who cannot get the Nautilus at any price near list. Authorised dealers allocate the 5167A-001 to clients with purchase history, so a new buyer either waits years or pays the secondary premium. On 21 September 2026 our catalogue listed a brand new 5167A-001 at US$86,519 sourced to order, in line with the pattern of 2025 and 2026, when unworn full-set examples traded at three to four times list and pre-owned examples a little below that. The premium narrowed from its 2022 peak and has been broadly stable since; it will not return to retail while allocation continues.

Aquanaut 5168G and 5164 Travel Time prices

The 5168G is the 42.2 mm Aquanaut in white gold, introduced for the model's 20th anniversary in 2017 with a blue dial (5168G-001) and joined by the khaki green 5168G-010 in 2019. Its retail price is roughly double the steel watch, but its secondary premium is far smaller, so the gap between the two on the secondary market is narrow: on 21 September 2026 our catalogue asked US$102,485 for the blue and US$104,870 for the green, against US$86,519 for the steel 5167A. For a buyer who wants a large Aquanaut, the 5168G is the better value of the two at secondary prices. The 5164 Travel Time adds a second time zone with Patek's pusher-adjusted local hour hand and a day and night indicator, in steel (5164A-001, from 2011), rose gold (5164R-001) and white gold with a blue dial (5164G-001). The steel Travel Time carries the same allocation problem as the 5167A and was asked at US$100,940 brand new; the gold versions were US$144,200 and US$177,109.

Aquanaut chronograph 5968 prices

The 5968A-001, introduced in 2018, was the first Aquanaut chronograph: a 42.2 mm steel case, the flyback calibre CH 28-520 C, a black embossed dial with orange accents and two straps, one orange and one black. White gold versions followed with blue (5968G-001) and green (5968G-010) dials, and a rose gold 5968R-001 with a brown dial. The steel chronograph has a retail price in the region of US$50,000 and trades at a premium that is smaller than the 5167A's in percentage terms but larger in dollars; on 21 September 2026 our catalogue listed steel examples between US$94,050 and US$128,339 brand new depending on set and year, a pre-owned steel example at US$114,389, the white gold blue at US$141,100, the green at US$133,900 and the rose gold at US$162,611. The chronograph collection lists alternatives.

Aquanaut Luce prices: 5267, 5268, 5269 and 5261R

The Luce is the ladies' Aquanaut, and since 2021 it has moved from quartz to automatic movements and from 35 mm to 38.8 mm, which has brought in buyers of both sexes. The steel 5267/200A with a diamond-set bezel comes with black, white or khaki dials and was asked between US$76,890 and US$104,463 on 21 September 2026; the rose gold 5268/200R with diamonds and the 5269R without were between US$79,825 and US$153,676. The 5261R-001 Luce Annual Calendar, introduced in 2023 as the first Aquanaut with a calendar complication, was asked at US$184,782. The older quartz 5067A and 5069G Luce models trade well below these figures and are the value entry to a diamond-set Aquanaut.

Discontinued Aquanauts: 5060, 5065, 5066 and the 5650G

The Aquanaut launched in 1997 as the 5060A, a 35.6 mm steel watch aimed at younger buyers, and was followed by the 34 mm 5066 and the 38 mm 5065 "Jumbo" with the calibre 315 S C, on a strap or the 5065/1A bracelet. All were replaced by the 5167 in 2007. These first-generation watches are the cheapest way to own an Aquanaut: on 21 September 2026 our catalogue listed a pre-owned 5065A-001 at US$41,849, a 5065/1A-001 on bracelet at US$44,639, a 5060A-001 at US$39,524, a 5066A-001 at US$34,409 and a ladies' 5064A-001 at US$25,946. Yellow gold 5065J and 5065/1J examples were US$61,007 and US$88,349. At the other end, the 5650G-001 Advanced Research Travel Time of 2017, a 500-piece white gold reference with a silicon-based compliant mechanism visible on the dial, was asked at US$496,640; it is a collector's piece priced by rarity rather than by the Aquanaut market.

The Aquanaut is the cheaper of the two steel sports Pateks by a wide margin, and it is the one still in production, which caps its premium. The Nautilus 5711 is a discontinued reference whose supply is fixed, so its ask has stayed well above the Aquanaut's. The Nautilus 5990 guide and the 5711 collection cover the Nautilus market; the Patek Philippe Nautilus page lists the current line.

Is the Aquanaut a good investment?

The steel 5167A-001 has been one of the most liquid watches in the world since 2018, and its premium over retail has been large and persistent, but it has also moved with the wider market: it roughly doubled between 2020 and early 2022 and gave back part of that gain over the following year before stabilising. Anyone buying at secondary prices should expect the value to track supply decisions Patek does not announce in advance. The gold references and the chronograph carry smaller premiums and therefore less downside; the discontinued 5065 has appreciated slowly and steadily as the original Jumbo. Buy the reference you would wear; if resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying an Aquanaut: what to check

  • Certificate of Origin. The certificate should carry the dealer stamp, sale date and case and movement numbers that match the watch. Patek does not reissue certificates; for a 5060, 5065 or 5066 an Extract from the Archives can confirm the numbers and sale date.
  • Strap. The composite strap is a wear item and Patek replaces it only through its service network; check for cracking at the lug ends and whether a spare strap is included, as the price of a replacement is not trivial.
  • Clasp. The fold-over clasp should close with a clean click and the strap holes should not be elongated; on bracelet references count the links.
  • Case. The rounded octagonal bezel has satin-brushed flats and polished chamfers that show polishing readily; the lug tops should still be flat and brushed.
  • Dial and lume. The embossed pattern should be crisp and the luminous numerals evenly aged; on early 5060 and 5065 examples the lume may have yellowed, which is acceptable if even.
  • Travel Time function. On a 5164, press both pushers through a full cycle: the local hour hand should jump in one-hour steps and the day and night apertures should change with it.
  • Chronograph. On a 5968, the flyback should reset and restart cleanly with one press while running.
  • Price against the band. A brand new 5167A-001 offered at or near retail from an unknown seller is the single most reliable warning sign.

Quick answers

How much is a Patek Philippe Aquanaut in 2026?

Retail for the steel 5167A-001 sits in the low-to-mid US$20,000s, but Bizak's sourced catalogue listed it at US$86,519 brand new on 21 September 2026. Other references ranged from US$25,946 for a pre-owned ladies' 5064A to US$184,782 for the 5261R Luce Annual Calendar.

Why is the Aquanaut so expensive on the secondary market?

Because Patek makes fewer steel Aquanauts than the market wants and authorised dealers allocate them to established clients, so new buyers pay a premium of three to four times retail rather than wait years.

Which Aquanaut is the cheapest?

The discontinued first-generation models: a pre-owned 5066A mid-size was asked at US$34,409 and a 5060A at US$39,524 on 21 September 2026. Among current references the 5167A-001 is the least expensive at retail.

Is the Aquanaut cheaper than the Nautilus?

Yes. On 21 September 2026 the steel 5167A-001 was asked at US$86,519 against US$152,440 for a discontinued steel Nautilus 5711/1A-010 and US$212,175 for the white gold 5811/1G-001.

What is the retail price of the Aquanaut 5167A?

Patek's US list price has sat in the low-to-mid US$20,000s in recent years; the current figure is on Patek's Aquanaut collection page and changes with each annual adjustment.
