What is Rolex best at?

Rolex is best at making an extremely good watch identically, at scale. The company casts its own gold, makes its own Oystersteel and certifies each movement in-house to a Superlative Chronometer standard of plus or minus 2 seconds a day. What is Audemars Piguet best at?

Audemars Piguet is best at design with finishing to match. Founded in Le Brassus in 1875 and still run by its founding families, it launched the Royal Oak in 1972, a steel sports watch with an octagonal bezel and eight exposed screws, priced like a precious-metal watch. That was a gamble in its day and is now the template for every luxury steel sports watch. • Service history. Ask for the date of the last service; brand servicing is a real cost on all four.
