Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 37 mm 15550ST.OO.1356ST.04 in stainless steel with light blue Grande Tapisserie dial on integrated steel bracelet

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 37 mm 15550ST.OO.1356ST.04 is the light blue Grande Tapisserie version of the steel 37 mm Royal Oak that Audemars Piguet introduced in 2022, the collection's 50th anniversary year. It replaced the 15450ST and brought the mid-size Royal Oak a new movement, the calibre 5900 with about 60 hours of power reserve, a slimmer case, and the dial colours and bracelet details of the anniversary generation. This guide covers the specifications, what changed from the 15450ST, how the light blue dial sits against its 15550ST siblings and the diamond-bezel 15551ST, how the 37 mm compares with the 41 mm 15500ST and 15510ST, dealer asks in 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 15550ST to order; the Royal Oak collection lists the configurations we can seek.

What changed from the 15450ST to the 15550ST?

The 15450ST was the 37 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding from 2012 to 2022, the first time Audemars Piguet offered the mid-size case with an automatic movement. It used the calibre 3120, a reliable but older design with about 60 hours of reserve and a case just under 10 mm thick. The 15550ST of 2022 kept the 37 mm diameter and the Grande Tapisserie dial but changed almost everything else that collectors notice.

  • Movement. The calibre 5900 is a new-generation selfwinding movement built on the architecture of the calibre 4302 used in the 41 mm watches, scaled for the smaller case. It keeps the roughly 60-hour reserve but is a more modern construction with a visibly finished bridge layout under the sapphire caseback.
  • Case. The 15550ST case is slimmer than the 15450ST, which makes the 37 mm sit even lower on the wrist. The bezel and caseback were revised in the same spirit as the 41 mm 15510ST.
  • Dial and markers. The 2022 generation uses the current Royal Oak dial language: a printed "Audemars Piguet" signature at 12, revised marker proportions and a date window with a colour-matched surround on most dials.
  • Bracelet. The 1356ST bracelet and clasp follow the updated profile introduced across the anniversary generation.
  • Anniversary rotor. 15550ST watches produced in 2022 have the dedicated "50 years" rotor; watches from 2023 onward have the regular rotor. The rotor is the quickest way to date a 15550ST without papers.

If you are comparing a used 15450ST against a 15550ST, the price gap buys the newer movement, the slimmer case and the light blue dial, which the 15450ST never had.

Which 15550ST dial: light blue, blue, grey or silver?

Reference Dial (Bizak catalogue description) Bizak ask, listed on October 12, 2026, sourced to order
15550ST.OO.1356ST.04 Light blue Grande Tapisserie US$52,950 brand new
15550ST.OO.1356ST.02 Blue US$52,259
15550ST.OO.1356ST.03 Grey US$45,320
15550ST.OO.1356ST.01 Silver-toned US$51,500
15550ST.OO.1356ST.05 to .08 Later silver, blue and grey dial variants US$34,409 to US$55,414 depending on dial, set and condition

The light blue .04 is the dial most buyers ask for by name, because it is the colour that marks the 2022 generation out from the 15450ST and photographs distinctly from the darker blue .02. The blue .02 is the classic Royal Oak colour and the safest resale choice. The grey .03 is the quiet option and, on our October 12, 2026 catalogue, the cheapest of the four original dials by a clear margin. The silver-toned .01 reads as the most formal. Asks within a dial colour vary with the year of production, whether the watch has the anniversary rotor, and whether box and papers are complete.

15550ST or 15551ST: plain bezel or diamond bezel?

The 15551ST is the same 37 mm steel Royal Oak with the calibre 5900, but with a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds; the "ZZ" in the reference denotes the gem setting. It is offered in the same family of dial colours. On October 12, 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed 15551ST examples from US$53,354 for the grey dial to US$71,683 for a blue dial, all sourced to order, against US$45,320 to US$55,414 for the plain-bezel 15550ST. The diamond bezel adds roughly US$8,000 to US$20,000 at the asking level depending on dial and set. Our Audemars Piguet diamond watches guide covers the factory-set references and how to tell them from aftermarket setting, which matters more on the Royal Oak than on almost any other watch because the bezel screws and bevels are so easy to compare against a factory piece.

The 41 mm watches have the longer power reserve and the larger dial, and the 15510ST is the direct 41 mm counterpart of the 15550ST in the same generation. The 37 mm is thinner, lighter and closer in feel to the 39 mm "Jumbo" than the 41 mm is, while still having a centre seconds hand and a sapphire caseback. On the asking level the two sizes overlap almost completely; the choice is about wrist and proportion, not price. The 15510ST guide covers the 41 mm in detail. The 15500ST is the value route into the 41 mm calibre 4302, since discontinued examples are asked below the 15510ST.

How does the Royal Oak 37 mm wear?

A 37 mm Royal Oak wears larger than the number suggests. The bezel runs almost to the case edge, the integrated bracelet continues the line of the case, and the brushed top surfaces catch light across the whole width. On wrists from about 15.5 cm to 18 cm (6.1 to 7.1 inches) the 15550ST sits flat and the clasp does not dig in; on larger wrists it still looks correct because the bracelet tapers gently and the lug-to-lug is short. The case thickness of roughly 9 mm slips under a shirt cuff, which the 41 mm does less easily. Weight is moderate for an all-steel integrated bracelet. If you are moving from a 41 mm Royal Oak, expect the dial to feel noticeably more compact; if you are moving from a 36 mm or 39 mm dress watch, the 37 mm will feel like a full-size sports watch.

How much is a Royal Oak 15550ST.OO.1356ST.04? Dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. Audemars Piguet's list price for the steel 37 mm Selfwinding has risen through the 2020s and in 2026 sits well below the secondary asks quoted here; the brand publishes current pricing by market on the Royal Oak collection page linked above. Authorised boutiques allocate the steel 37 mm to existing clients, and a walk-in purchase of the light blue dial is unusual.
  • Secondary market. Through 2025 and 2026, unworn full-set 15550ST examples have generally been asked at a substantial premium to retail, with the light blue and blue dials at the top of the range and the grey dial at the bottom. The premium is smaller than it was at the 2022 launch, when the anniversary rotor and limited supply pushed asks higher.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On October 12, 2026 our sourced catalogue listed the light blue 15550ST.OO.1356ST.04 at US$52,950 brand new, the blue .02 at US$52,259, the grey .03 at US$45,320 and the silver-toned .01 at US$51,500, with later dial variants from US$34,409 to US$55,414, all sourced to order.

Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact dial, year and set; our Audemars Piguet price guide explains how to compare quotes and what drives the gap between retail and dealer asks.

Is the 15550ST a good investment?

It is a watch to own rather than to trade. The steel Royal Oak Selfwinding has held a premium over retail for most of the past decade, and the 37 mm has benefited from the shift toward smaller cases, but the premium compresses when supply improves and expands when it tightens. A 2022 example with the anniversary rotor and full papers is the one most likely to hold value, because it is a fixed population. The light blue dial has the advantage of being distinct within the reference, which usually helps resale. Buy it because the size and the dial are what you want; if resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying a 15550ST: what to check

  • Papers and warranty. The warranty card should name the full reference 15550ST.OO.1356ST.04 and carry a serial that matches the caseback. Audemars Piguet offers an international warranty on new watches sold through its network and does not reissue cards for a watch bought elsewhere.
  • Rotor and year. Through the sapphire caseback, a 2022 watch shows the "50 years" anniversary rotor; a 2023 or later watch shows the standard rotor. A 2022 card with a standard rotor, or the reverse, is a question to ask the seller.
  • Dial colour. The light blue .04 is noticeably paler than the blue .02 and should read as light blue under daylight, not as a faded or lightened dark blue. Compare the date wheel surround and the marker colour against factory images.
  • Bezel screws. The eight hexagonal screws should sit flush and be aligned as they left the factory; marked screw slots or raised screws point to a bezel that has been off.
  • Case edges. The polished bevels between the brushed surfaces are the first thing a polisher softens. On a new watch they should be razor-sharp and even on both sides of the case.
  • Bracelet and clasp. The 1356ST bracelet should articulate without side play, and the folding clasp should close with a firm click and sit flush. Bracelet links are expensive to source, so count them against the full-length configuration.
  • Price against the band. A full-set light blue 15550ST offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.

Is 37 mm too small for a Royal Oak?

Not for most wrists. The integrated bracelet and wide bezel make the 37 mm wear larger than its diameter, and it suits wrists from about 15.5 cm to 18 cm. The 41 mm 15510ST is the choice for larger wrists or for a longer power reserve.
