Short answer: Audemars Piguet's diamond watches fall into four groups. The most common is the Royal Oak or Royal Oak Offshore with a factory diamond-set bezel: 40 brilliant-cut diamonds on the 33, 34 and 37 mm Royal Oak and the 38 mm Royal Oak chronograph, 32 on the 37 mm Offshore chronograph, or 32 baguette-cut diamonds on some white gold versions. Fully set models cover the case, dial and bracelet. Frosted Gold carries no stones at all, but its hammered gold sparkles like diamond dust. At the top sit the Haute Joaillerie pieces such as Diamond Fury and Diamond Punk. On October 12, 2026 Bizak & Co. listed AP diamond watches from $20,459 for a pre-owned 33 mm quartz Royal Oak to $1,390,350 for a Diamond Outrage, all sourced to order; start with the Royal Oak ladies collection or the Frosted Gold collection.

The baguette versions are a different look rather than simply more diamonds: in white gold AP sets the bezel with 32 baguette-cut stones, about 1.44 carats on the 34 mm 77451BC and 1.66 carats on the 37 mm 15551BC and the 38 mm chronograph 26715BC, and swaps the applied hour-markers for 12 baguette-cut diamonds of about 0.24 carat, all on a smoked blue dial.
Which Royal Oak diamond bezel: 37, 34 or 33 mm?
All three sizes carry 40 brilliant-cut diamonds on the octagonal bezel, so the choice comes down to size, movement and budget. The 37 mm is the most versatile: the current 15551, introduced in 2022 with the Royal Oak design evolution and Calibre 5900, is 9.1 mm thick with a 60-hour reserve and about 0.92 carat on the bezel; the earlier 15451 used Calibre 3120. The 34 mm began with the 77351, AP's first 34 mm selfwinding Royal Oak, and continues as the 77451 at 8.8 mm thick with Calibre 5800 and about 0.71 carat. The 33 mm 67651 is a 7 mm quartz watch with about 0.71 carat on the bezel in steel (0.73 in gold) and the lowest prices. The smaller Royal Oaks continue a line that began with the first women's Royal Oak, designed by Jacqueline Dimier in 1976, but the 37 mm in particular is now worn by men and women alike. Our Audemars Piguet for women guide and Royal Oak size guide compare the fit.
What do the diamonds add? Compare the same dial. On October 12, 2026 Bizak's catalogue asked $45,320 for a new steel 37 mm 15550ST.OO.1356ST.03 with a grey dial and no stones, and $53,354 for the diamond-set 15551ST.ZZ.1356ST.03 with the same grey dial: about $8,000 for the bezel. In 34 mm the cheapest plain steel 77450ST (silver dial) asked $43,259 and the cheapest diamond-set 77451ST (a blue "Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50" dial) $54,074, about $10,800 more, though part of that gap is the dial. Dial colour moves both numbers, so compare like for like.
Diamond APs for women, and in larger sizes
For women. Beyond the 33 and 34 mm Royal Oaks, AP describes the 37 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronograph 26231 as the Offshore's version for women: a 12.4 mm steel or pink gold case with 32 diamonds on the bezel, a softer "Lady Tapisserie" dial, a rubber strap and the selfwinding Calibre 2385, from $34,410. The 38.5 mm Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon 26227BC, which AP calls the Concept collection's first model for women, carries about 3.5 carats of diamonds on its white gold case and buckle ($188,511). Compare every women's size in our Audemars Piguet ladies 37 mm and ladies 33 mm collections.
In larger sizes. AP's bigger diamond watches are set more heavily. The Code 11.59 Selfwinding 41 mm 15210 in pink or white gold carries about 2.7 carats of diamonds on the case and 2.3 carats on the dial (from $83,830). The 43 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronograph, with the flyback Calibre 4401, comes with a bezel of 32 baguette-cut diamonds and 100 m water resistance (26424BC, $120,742) or fully paved with brilliant-cut diamonds (26423BC, $170,979). The 39 mm Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Thin 16202BC is made with a diamond-set case and bracelet, about 6.7 carats in all on the blue-dial .02 ($167,399). See the Offshore 43 mm and Code 11.59 collections.
Full pavé: when the whole watch is set
AP's snow-set models cover almost every gold surface with brilliant-cut diamonds of different sizes. The 34 mm 77452BC carries 276 diamonds on the case, 879 brilliant-cut and 13 baguette-cut diamonds on the dial and 1,100 on the bracelet, about 6.9 carats in all; the 37 mm 15552BC carries 2,136 stones, about 7.5 carats. Both use time-only calibres (5809 and 5909) and are rated to 20 m rather than the 50 m of the bezel-set models, so they are evening pieces more than daily sports watches. The 37 mm 15452 is fully set too, with 860 diamonds on the case and bracelet and 275 brilliant-cut plus 25 baguette-cut diamonds on the dial, about 7.3 carats, but it keeps the date Calibre 3120 and 50 m water resistance. Bizak sources the 15452 from $140,521 in white gold, the 77452 from $245,293 (77452OR) and the 15552 from $318,823 (15552OR).
Frosted Gold: sparkle without stones
Frosted Gold is not diamond-set. AP introduced it in 2016, the 40th year of the women's Royal Oak, with Italian jewellery designer Carolina Bucci, borrowing an old Florentine hammering technique: a diamond-tipped tool strikes the gold repeatedly and leaves tiny dimples that catch the light, which AP describes as a diamond-dust effect. The first references were the 37 mm selfwinding 15454 and the 33 mm quartz 67653 in white or pink gold. AP's current catalogue lists a 34 mm (77450BC.GG, Calibre 5800), a 37 mm yellow gold 15550BA.GG with Calibre 5900 and the 23 mm Mini 67630, a quartz watch inspired by the Mini Oak of 1997. Bizak sources Frosted Gold from $54,074 (67653BC), the 37 mm 15454BC from $77,146 and the Mini from $81,999; the Frosted Rainbow 15412BC guide covers the gem-set openworked version.
Haute Joaillerie: Diamond Punk, Diamond Fury and Diamond Outrage
AP has run its own jewellery workshop since the 1980s, and its Haute Joaillerie watches are jewels first: diamond-set white gold cases and bracelets with quartz movements. Bizak sources the 40 mm Diamond Punk from $591,400 (79419BC, with onyx), the 40 mm Diamond Fury from $728,609 and the 34 mm Diamond Outrage at $1,390,350. The Haute Joaillerie collection lists each piece.
When did AP start setting diamonds on the Royal Oak?
Within a few years of the Royal Oak's 1972 launch. According to Monaco Legend Auctions, the ladies' Royal Oak ref. 8638, later modified as the 8756, was the first with a bezel set with 80 diamonds; Phillips dates the 18-carat yellow gold 8756 to the late 1970s and explains that the thin case at first allowed stones only around the rim of the bezel, not across its top. Today's bezels are set with 40 brilliant-cut diamonds (32 on the Offshore), and the reference code records how the watch left the factory.
Factory-set or aftermarket? How to tell
- Read the reference. On AP's own references the second group shows how the watch left the factory: OO for an unset watch (15500ST.OO.1220ST.01), ZZ on most diamond-set versions (15551ST.ZZ.1356ST.05) and GG on Frosted Gold (77450BC.GG.1361BC.01). A watch with stones whose warranty card says OO was set after it left AP.
- Count the stones. AP publishes the count: 40 on the 33, 34 and 37 mm Royal Oak bezels and 32 on the 37 mm Offshore chronograph.
- Ask about service. AP says its certified watchmakers use only genuine parts, and its complimentary AP Coverage service excludes watches that have undergone third-party intervention or modification.
- Inspect the setting. Uneven stone heights, cloudy stones or rough metal between them are reasons to walk away.
- Price it as what it is. A watch set after it left AP is a modified watch, so compare its price with the unset OO reference, not with AP's own ZZ version.

Quick answers
Does Audemars Piguet make watches with diamonds?
Yes. AP sets diamonds on the bezels of the 33, 34 and 37 mm Royal Oak, the 38 mm Royal Oak chronograph and the 37 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronograph, makes fully set Royal Oaks and diamond-set Code 11.59 and 43 mm Offshore models, and produces Haute Joaillerie pieces such as Diamond Fury, Diamond Punk and Diamond Outrage.
How many diamonds are on an AP Royal Oak bezel?
Forty brilliant-cut diamonds on the 33, 34 and 37 mm Royal Oak and the 38 mm chronograph: about 0.71 carat on the 34 mm and the steel 33 mm (0.73 in gold) and about 0.92 carat on the 37 and 38 mm, according to Audemars Piguet. The 37 mm Offshore chronograph bezel carries 32, about 1.02 carats, and the white gold baguette versions carry 32 baguette-cut diamonds, about 1.44 carats on the 34 mm and 1.66 carats on the 37 and 38 mm.
How much is an AP watch with diamonds?
On October 12, 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue started at $20,459 for a pre-owned 33 mm quartz Royal Oak in steel. The current steel references started at $53,354 (37 mm 15551ST) and $54,074 (34 mm 77451ST), the earlier 15451ST and 77351ST at $32,549 and $34,409, and pink gold at $32,549 for a 33 mm quartz on a rubber strap. Fully set Royal Oaks started at $140,521 and Haute Joaillerie pieces at $591,400.
What does ZZ mean in an Audemars Piguet reference?
In AP's reference numbers the two letters after the first full stop record how the watch is set or finished. OO marks a watch without stones, as on the steel 15550ST.OO.1356ST.03, and ZZ appears on most diamond-set versions, such as the 15551ST.ZZ.1356ST.03 with the same grey dial and a diamond bezel. Other pairs mark other finishes and stones: Frosted Gold references carry GG, and a pink gold 15551 with a blue sapphire bezel carries ZS.
How can you tell if AP diamonds are factory-set?
Check the reference on the warranty card: most diamond-set versions carry ZZ in the second group, while OO marks a watch that left the factory without stones. Then count the stones against AP's published figure and have the setting inspected.
When did Audemars Piguet first put diamonds on the Royal Oak?
In the late 1970s. The ladies' ref. 8638, later modified as the 8756, had a bezel set with 80 diamonds around its rim, according to Monaco Legend Auctions and Phillips. Today's bezels are set with 40 brilliant-cut diamonds, or 32 on the Offshore.
Does AP Frosted Gold have diamonds?
No. Frosted Gold is 18-carat gold hammered with a diamond-tipped tool, a Florentine jewellery technique AP adopted with Carolina Bucci in 2016. It sparkles like diamond dust but carries no stones, and its references use GG instead of ZZ.
Which AP diamond watch suits a smaller wrist?
The 34 mm Royal Oak 77451 (selfwinding, 8.8 mm thick) or the 33 mm quartz 67651 (7 mm thick and the least expensive). The 37 mm 15551 wears larger and is worn by men and women alike, and AP describes the 37 mm Offshore chronograph 26231 as the Offshore's version for women.
Does Audemars Piguet make diamond watches for men?
Yes, in larger sizes: the Code 11.59 Selfwinding 41 mm with a diamond-set case and dial (from $83,830 at Bizak on October 12, 2026), the 43 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronograph with a baguette bezel (26424BC, $120,742) or fully paved (26423BC, $170,979), and the 39 mm Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Thin with a diamond-set case and bracelet (16202BC, from $167,399). The 37 and 38 mm diamond-bezel Royal Oaks are worn by men and women alike.
