Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 mm 77450ST.OO.1361ST.01 in stainless steel with silver-toned Grande Tapisserie dial

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 77450ST is the 34 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding in stainless steel: the smallest self-winding Royal Oak in the current steel collection, with the octagonal bezel and eight hexagonal screws, an integrated steel bracelet, a silver-toned "Grande Tapisserie" dial with date, and the in-house calibre 5800. Audemars Piguet added the 34 mm size in 2022, the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary year, and the two steel configurations are the 77450ST.OO.1361ST.01, which carries the anniversary oscillating weight, and the 77450ST.OO.1361ST.02, which is the same watch with the standard rotor. This guide covers the specifications, the difference between the two configurations, how the 34 mm compares with the 37 mm 15450ST and 15550ST, how it wears, what it costs in 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 77450ST to order; the Royal Oak collection lists the configurations we can seek.

Where does the 34 mm 77450ST sit in the Royal Oak range?

For most of its history the Royal Oak Selfwinding came in three steel sizes: 41 mm, 37 mm and, for the smaller sizes, quartz. In 2022 Audemars Piguet marked the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary with a refreshed collection, and one of the additions was a 34 mm self-winding case fitted with a new calibre, the 5800, developed for the smaller diameter. The 77450ST is that watch in stainless steel. The 77450 case number is also used for the pink gold, yellow gold and two-tone versions and for the diamond-set 77451, so the letters matter: ST is the all-steel reference with the plain octagonal bezel. The 34 mm keeps every Royal Oak signature at reduced scale, including the bezel screws, the tapisserie dial, the integrated bracelet and the exhibition caseback. Audemars Piguet does not assign the 34 mm to a gender on its product pages, and in practice it is bought by anyone who wants a Royal Oak that sits well on a smaller wrist or under a cuff.

77450ST.01 vs 77450ST.02: which one is the 50th anniversary?

The .01 is the anniversary configuration. Launched in 2022, it carries the "50 years" oscillating weight in 22 carat pink gold, visible through the sapphire caseback, which Audemars Piguet fitted to the anniversary Royal Oaks for that year. The .02 is the same case, dial pattern and movement with the standard Royal Oak rotor. From the front the two are hard to tell apart: both have a silver-toned Grande Tapisserie dial, white gold markers and the date at 3. Turn the watch over and the rotor engraving settles it. Audemars Piguet lists both on its site, and both carry the same reference prefix, so a quote for a "77450ST" should state the full suffix. There is no price logic to read into the pair; a dealer's ask reflects which one is available at the time rather than an anniversary premium.

What is the calibre 5800?

The calibre 5800 is the self-winding movement Audemars Piguet introduced in 2022 for the 34 mm Royal Oak. It runs at 4 Hz, which gives a smoother sweep than the 3 Hz calibres in the older 37 mm 15450ST, holds about 50 hours of power reserve, and shows hours, minutes, centre seconds and date. It has the hacking seconds and the finishing you expect on a modern AP calibre: Côtes de Genève on the bridges, circular graining on the plate and polished bevels, visible through the caseback. The rotor is 22 carat gold on both configurations; only the engraving differs. For service, Audemars Piguet recommends having the movement checked every few years; the AP services page explains what a full service covers.

The 37 mm has long been the Royal Oak for wrists that find 41 mm too much, and the 15550ST is its current form with the 4 Hz calibre 5900. The 34 mm goes a step further: three millimetres smaller in diameter and thinner, with a correspondingly shorter lug span. If you have worn a 36 mm Datejust comfortably, the 34 mm Royal Oak will feel similar in footprint because the integrated bracelet and square-shouldered case make it read larger than its diameter suggests. If you want the dial to dominate, the 37 mm is the safer choice. The 15450ST, discontinued in 2022, is the value route to a mid-size Royal Oak and the 15450ST guide covers it in detail.

How does the Royal Oak 77450ST wear?

At 34 mm and about 8.8 mm thick, the 77450ST is one of the thinnest Royal Oaks you can buy new. The integrated bracelet tapers from the case and the clasp is a scaled version of the AP folding clasp, so the watch sits flat and does not catch on a cuff. Because the bezel is wide relative to the dial, the 34 mm presents as a compact, jewel-like Royal Oak rather than a sports watch; the Grande Tapisserie pattern is at the same scale as on the larger watches, so the dial is busier at this size. On wrists up to about 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) it fills the wrist; on larger wrists it reads as a deliberately small watch, which some buyers want and others do not. The silver-toned dial is the easiest Royal Oak dial to read in mixed light and pairs with the steel case without the strong contrast of the blue or black dials on the larger references.

How much is a Royal Oak 77450ST? Retail and dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. Audemars Piguet publishes pricing on its product pages by market and sells through its own boutiques and a small network of authorised retailers. In 2026 the steel 34 mm has sat well below the 37 mm and 41 mm Selfwinding at retail, and allocation is tied to a client relationship rather than a walk-in purchase. The AP pages linked above carry the current list figure for your market.
  • Secondary market. Through 2025 and 2026, unworn steel 34 mm Royal Oaks have generally been asked above retail on the secondary market, because the steel Royal Oak at any size is allocated rather than sold off the shelf, though the premium has been smaller than on the 41 mm 15510ST.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On October 4, 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the 77450ST.OO.1361ST.01 at US$43,259 and the 77450ST.OO.1361ST.02 at US$47,509, both brand new and sourced to order. Those are two catalogue entries, not a market median, and the difference between them reflects what was obtainable on the day rather than a rule about which configuration costs more.

Those figures will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact suffix, year and set; our Audemars Piguet price guide explains how AP pricing is built and what moves it.

Is the 34 mm Royal Oak a good buy?

Buy it because you want a Royal Oak at this size. The 34 mm is new enough that there is no long resale record, and the anniversary .01 has a small following because 2022 was a one-year rotor. The watch most likely to hold its value is a full set with the AP warranty card, the box, and the bracelet links that were removed at sizing. If resale matters more than wearing, the 37 mm and 41 mm steel references have deeper buyer pools; if the fit matters, the 34 mm is the only self-winding steel Royal Oak at this diameter and that scarcity supports it.

Buying a 77450ST: what to check

  • Full reference. Confirm 77450ST.OO.1361ST.01 or .02 on the warranty card and caseback. 77450SR, 77450OR and 77450BA are two-tone and gold cases; 77451ST has a diamond-set bezel; 15450ST and 15550ST are 37 mm.
  • Rotor. On the .01 the oscillating weight carries the "50 years" anniversary engraving; on the .02 it is the standard rotor. Ask for a caseback photograph.
  • Bezel and screws. The eight hexagonal screws should sit aligned and the bezel's brushed top and polished chamfers should be crisp; softened edges mean a polish.
  • Bracelet. Count the links and ask for the removed links. A 34 mm bracelet is short to begin with and missing links limit resale.
  • Warranty. Every 77450ST is a 2022 or later watch, so it should be within AP's warranty period; the card, the box and the sales receipt should agree on the suffix and the dealer.
  • Price against the band. A new 34 mm steel Royal Oak offered well below the asks above deserves a careful look at the seller before the watch.
