What is the Rolex Submariner 124060 (no-date)?

|Filip Biczak
Rolex Submariner 124060 no-date with black Cerachrom bezel

The Rolex Submariner 124060 is the no-date Submariner: a 41 mm Oystersteel dive watch with a black Cerachrom bezel, a symmetrical black dial with no date window and no Cyclops, and the calibre 3230 with 70 hours of power reserve. Launched in September 2020 alongside the 126610LN, it replaced the 114060 and is the cheapest way into a current steel Submariner. This guide covers the specifications, what changed from the 114060, the date-versus-no-date decision, retail and used prices in 2026, and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 124060 to order; the Submariner collection lists the configurations we can seek.

124060 vs 114060: what changed in 2020?

  • Size. 41 mm instead of 40 mm, with slimmer lugs, so it wears closer to the classic Submariner proportions than the 114060's wide "super case".
  • Movement. Calibre 3230 replaced the 3130: 70 hours of reserve instead of 48, Chronergy escapement, higher magnetic resistance.
  • Bracelet. 21 mm lugs and a bracelet that tapers less; same Glidelock.
  • Dial. Marginally larger hour markers; otherwise the same three-line text and no date.

The 114060 is the value route and suits smaller wrists at 40 mm; it lacks the long reserve and current warranty.

Why does the no-date Submariner exist?

The original 1953 Submariner had no date; the date and Cyclops arrived in 1969 with the 1680. Rolex has kept both lines in the catalogue ever since because they sell to different buyers: the date model to the mainstream, the no-date to divers, military and police units and collectors who value the symmetrical dial that the Submariner started with. The 14060 (1990 to 2012) and 114060 (2012 to 2020) carried the no-date line through the sapphire and ceramic eras, and the 124060 is the first with the 70-hour movement. Because the no-date has always been produced in smaller numbers than the date, clean older examples such as the 14060M with a four-line dial have become collectable in their own right.

Date or no-date: 124060 vs 126610LN

124060 126610LN
Date No; symmetrical dial, plain crystal Yes, with Cyclops at 3
Movement 3230 3235 (same base with a date module)
Retail, 2026 US$10,050 US$11,350
Secondary premium Smaller Larger; more requested
Who buys it Purists, divers, buyers who dislike the Cyclops Everyone else; the default Submariner

The no-date is the original 1953 layout and the dial most watch people prefer; the date is the version most buyers ask for, which makes the 126610LN easier to resell. The US$1,300 retail gap narrows second-hand because the 124060 is produced in smaller numbers.

Does the 41 mm Submariner fit a smaller wrist?

Usually, yes. The 41 mm figure is misleading on its own: the 2020 case has slimmer lugs than the 40 mm "super case" it replaced, the lug-to-lug is about 47.5 mm, and the Oyster bracelet tapers to the clasp, so on a 16.5 cm (6.5 inch) wrist it sits inside the wrist bones. Below about 16 cm the lugs start to overhang and the older 40 mm references or a 36 mm Explorer are the better fit. The Glidelock clasp adjusts in 2 mm steps without tools, which matters more for daily comfort than the case diameter. Try one on with the clasp closed; if the case stays centred when you bend your wrist, it fits.

How much is a Rolex Submariner 124060? Retail and used prices in 2026

  • Retail. Rolex's US list price was US$10,050 on 12 September 2026. Like every steel Submariner it is allocated to existing authorised-dealer clients; a walk-in wait of a year or more is normal, though the no-date is sometimes offered sooner than the date.
  • Secondary market. In 2025 and 2026, unworn full-set 124060 examples have generally been asked in the US$11,500 to 13,500 range, and pre-owned full sets from about US$10,500, close to retail.
  • 114060. Used examples with card have generally sat in the US$8,500 to 10,000 range in the same period.

Is the Submariner 124060 a good investment?

It holds value as well as any steel Rolex and trades closer to retail than the date version, which makes it the better buy for someone who intends to keep the watch: less premium paid up front, the same case and bezel, and a movement that is the 3235 without the date. It is not a speculation; the premium has fallen since 2022. Buy it to wear. If resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying a used 124060: what to check

  • Warranty card. Card serial and rehaut engraving should match; Rolex does not reissue cards.
  • Bezel. No chips on the Cerachrom edge; 120 clicks with no back-play; aligned at 12.
  • Case. Sharp lug chamfers and even brushing; rounded edges mean polishing.
  • Clasp. The Glidelock should lock at every step.
  • Dial text. A 124060 dial reads "Submariner 1000ft = 300m Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" with no date; a date dial or Cyclops on a 124060 case means parts have been swapped.
  • Water resistance. Ask when it was last pressure-tested if you intend to dive.
  • Price against the band. A full-set 124060 offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.

What is the difference between the 124060 and 126610LN?
