The Rolex Yacht-Master 40 126622 is the steel Yacht-Master with a solid platinum bezel, a pairing Rolex calls Rolesium, on an Oyster bracelet with the calibre 3235. It is the dressier cousin of the Submariner: the same family of Oyster cases, rated to 100 m rather than 300 m, with a bidirectional bezel and a softer, more yachting-minded look. This guide covers the specifications, what Rolesium means, blue versus slate dials, how the 126622 compares with the Everose and white gold Yacht-Masters and the Submariner, what Bizak's sourced catalogue listed on October 1, 2026, and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 126622 to order; the Yacht-Master collection lists the configurations we can seek.

What is Rolesium, and why does the platinum bezel matter?
Rolesium is Rolex's name for Oystersteel paired with platinum. On the 126622 the platinum is the bezel; the case and bracelet are steel. The bezel is the watch's one precious-metal part and most of its look: it is what separates the 126622 from a plain steel sports watch. Platinum is denser and more resistant to tarnish than steel, and it takes a lighter, cooler colour that sits a shade away from the steel of the case.
Because the bezel turns in both directions, it reads as a different instrument from the Submariner's one-way dive bezel. On a pre-owned example, look at the bezel first: edges should be sharp and the numerals even, because a bezel that has been repeatedly polished loses the crispness that makes it distinctive.
Slate or blue: which 126622 dial should you buy?
Pick the dial you like; the watch is otherwise identical. Bizak's catalogue labels the B suffix as blue and the R suffix as slate, and blue was the lower ask in both conditions on October 1, 2026. Confirm the dial in photographs, since suffixes are a catalogue convention and not a Rolex code.

126622 vs 126655 vs 226659: which Yacht-Master?
| 126622 | 126655 | 226659 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal | Oystersteel with platinum bezel | 18 ct Everose gold | 18 ct white gold |
| Size | 40 mm | 40 mm | 42 mm |
| Strap or bracelet | Oyster bracelet | Oysterflex | Oysterflex |
| Best for | Everyday steel | Warm gold on rubber | A larger gold Yacht-Master |
Choose by metal and by how much you want to spend. The 126622 is the everyday steel Yacht-Master; the 126655 and 226659 are gold watches on rubber with a different price class entirely. The 126621 (steel and Everose) and the earlier 116622 are separate references; the Yacht-Master 126622 collection lists only this reference.
Yacht-Master 126622 vs Submariner: why pick the Yacht-Master?
For the look, not for diving. The Submariner is the dedicated diver, rated to 300 m with a one-way dive bezel and a ceramic insert; the 126622 is rated to 100 m with a platinum bezel that turns both ways. The Yacht-Master is the dressier, softer-looking steel sports watch, and it is honest about that. If you dive, the Submariner wins. Our Submariner 126610LN guide covers the diver and our Submariner price guide compares the two on price.
How does the Yacht-Master 40 wear?
At 40 mm in steel, the 126622 wears like a traditional Rolex sports watch: broad enough to read easily, slim enough to slide under a cuff, and balanced by a bracelet that is substantial without being heavy. The platinum bezel adds a little weight to the top of the watch, which is more noticeable on a smaller wrist. The date window with Cyclops makes the dial busier than a no-date model, which some prefer and some do not.

What should you check before you pay the balance on a 126622?
- SKU and dial. Ask for photographs and confirm blue or slate matches the quote.
- Bezel. Platinum marks differently from steel; ask for close photographs of the bezel edge and numerals.
- Bracelet. Check for stretch and clasp wear; hold the watch by the clasp and see if the bracelet sags.
- Warranty card. The reference and serial should match the watch and the card date should be what the quote says.
- Movement and service. Ask for a recent timing result or service record on a pre-owned watch.
- Timing and price. It is sourced to order, so confirm timing and the final price before you pay the balance.
