The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811/1G-001 is the successor to the 5711: a 41 mm white gold Nautilus with a blue sunburst dial that darkens to black at the edge, the self-winding calibre 26-330 S C with stop seconds, 120 m of water resistance and a new bracelet clasp with a built-in adjustment. Patek introduced it in October 2022, a year after the last steel 5711 left the catalogue, and chose white gold rather than steel so that the time-and-date Nautilus would sit above the 5712 and 5726 rather than below them. This guide covers the specifications, what changed from the 5711, the case construction, how the 5811 wears, dealer prices in 2026 and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 5811 to order; the Nautilus collection lists the configurations we can seek.

The 5811 is a 5711 with three practical upgrades: a millimetre more diameter, a return to the two-part case of the 1976 3700, which is thinner and stiffer, and a clasp that adjusts for a warm day. The one change that matters most to the market is the metal. In white gold the watch costs several times a steel 5711's retail and weighs noticeably more; it also does not carry the "steel sports watch" premium that made the 5711 a phenomenon, so its secondary price behaves more like a gold Patek than like a 5711.
Why is there no steel Nautilus 5811?
Patek discontinued the steel 5711 in 2021, after fifteen years, with a final olive green dial and then the 170-piece Tiffany blue edition, because the reference had come to dominate the brand's image and its waiting lists. The 5811 in white gold restored a time-and-date Nautilus to the catalogue without restoring the steel watch that had caused the problem. As of 2026 the Nautilus line has no plain steel three-hand model for men; the steel entries are the 5712/1A moon phase, the 5726/1A annual calendar and the 5990/1A Travel Time chronograph, all of them complicated and more expensive at retail than the 5711 was. Anyone who wants a steel time-and-date Nautilus buys a pre-owned 5711 or waits for a decision Patek has not announced.
How does the Nautilus 5811 wear?
At 41 mm across the bezel with the ears adding width, the 5811 wears a touch larger than the 5711 and a good deal larger than a 40 mm round watch, but at about 8.2 mm thick it is one of the slimmest watches Patek makes and disappears under a cuff. White gold makes the head and bracelet heavier than steel, and the weight is the first thing a 5711 owner notices. The bracelet tapers sharply and the new clasp gives enough adjustment to cope with a warm afternoon, which the 5711 never had. The dial's blue-black gradient and luminous markers keep it legible at night. Wrists from about 16 cm (6.3 inches) carry it well; below that, the 35.2 mm Nautilus 7118 is the better fit.
How much is a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811? Retail and dealer prices in 2026
- Retail. The 5811/1G-001 launched in late 2022 at a US list price in the high US$60,000s to low US$70,000s, and Patek has adjusted its prices since; the current figure is available from an authorised Patek retailer. Allocation is by relationship and waits at retail run to years for clients without purchase history.
- Secondary market. Through 2025 and 2026 unworn, full-set 5811s have traded at a large premium to retail, roughly double or more, with the premium narrowing as more watches reached the market. A pre-owned steel 5711/1A-010 has generally cost less than a 5811 and the green 5711/1A-014 more.
- Bizak catalogue asks. On 21 September 2026 our sourced catalogue listed the 5811/1G-001 at US$212,175 and a gem-set white gold variant, the 5811/1460G-001, at US$700,399. For comparison it listed the steel 5711/1A-010 at US$152,440, the green 5711/1A-014 at US$295,094 and the rose gold 5711/1R-001 at US$205,999. All are sourced to order.

Is the Nautilus 5811 a good investment?
It is the safest way to own a time-and-date Nautilus, not the cheapest. The 5811 is a current production watch with a five-year Patek warranty, so it carries none of the vintage risk of a 5711 that has been through several hands, and its supply will grow slowly for years, which keeps the premium from collapsing. It is unlikely to repeat the 5711's run, because that run was built on steel, scarcity and a discontinuation, and the 5811 has only the second of those. A full set with the Certificate of Origin, box and unremoved bracelet links holds value best. Buy it to wear; if resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.
Buying a used 5811: what to check
- Certificate of Origin. The movement and case numbers should match the certificate, and the certificate should be stamped and dated by an authorised retailer; every 5811 sold from late 2022 is inside its warranty until at least 2027.
- Hallmarks. White gold cases carry gold hallmarks on the case and clasp; check they are present and consistent with the certificate.
- Dial. The gradient should run evenly from blue to black with crisp horizontal relief; the applied markers should be straight and the luminous coating even.
- Clasp. Test the adjustment mechanism through its full range; it should move cleanly and lock firmly at each position.
- Bracelet. Ask for the removed links; a set without them cannot be resized back to full length. White gold scratches more easily than steel, so look for deep marks on the polished centre links.
- Case edges. The bezel's satin top and polished chamfer should meet in a sharp line; rounded edges on a watch this new mean it has already been polished.
- Price against the band. A full-set 5811 offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.
