Luxury Watches for Women: Rolex Datejust, Patek Philippe Twenty~4, Royal Oak 34 and Richard Mille RM 07-01

Rolex Pearlmaster 34 81319 in 18 ct white gold with a pink dial, diamond bezel and Pearlmaster bracelet, a luxury watch for women

The best luxury watches for women from the four houses Bizak & Co. specialises in are the Rolex Datejust in 28, 31 and 36 mm, the Patek Philippe Twenty~4 and the 35.2 mm Nautilus 7118, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in 34 and 37 mm, and the Richard Mille RM 07-01. Each is a mechanical or, in a few cases, quartz watch made in a smaller case with the same movement quality and finishing as the men's line, and each holds value because it is a reference the secondary market recognises rather than a fashion piece. This guide explains how case size works on a smaller wrist, compares the four houses' offerings on size, movement, metal and price, covers diamonds and precious metals, and lists what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources all of them to order; the Datejust collection lists the Rolex configurations we can seek.

What size is a women's luxury watch?

There is no fixed rule, and the trend since about 2015 has been toward women wearing 36 mm and even 40 mm watches that the industry once called men's sizes. The traditional ladies' sizes are 26 to 31 mm; 34 to 36 mm is the mid size that suits most wrists and is the fastest-growing category; 37 to 41 mm is the men's size worn on a larger wrist or for a deliberately oversized look. The measurement that matters more than diameter is lug to lug, the length of the case from the top of one lug to the bottom of the other, which should not overhang the wrist. A wrist of 14 to 15 cm carries a 28 or 31 mm watch and a 36 mm watch with short lugs; a wrist of 15 to 16.5 cm carries anything up to 37 mm; above that, 40 and 41 mm sports models are an option. Bracelet design changes the effect: an integrated bracelet such as the Royal Oak's or the Nautilus's makes a watch wear larger than a Datejust with conventional lugs.

Rolex for women: Datejust, Lady-Datejust, Oyster Perpetual and Pearlmaster

Rolex is the widest choice. The Lady-Datejust is 28 mm with the calibre 2236, and the Datejust 31 uses the same movement in a 31 mm case; both come in Oystersteel, Rolesor two-tone or gold, with smooth, fluted or diamond-set bezels and dozens of dials on Oyster, Jubilee or President bracelets. The Datejust 36 with the calibre 3235 is the mid size that many women now choose, and the Oyster Perpetual in 28, 31, 34 and 36 mm is the entry point with no date and a lacquered dial in colours from candy pink to turquoise. The Pearlmaster 34 is the jewellery Datejust: white or yellow gold, a diamond bezel and a five-link Pearlmaster bracelet. On 25 September 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the Pearlmaster 34 81319 in white gold with a pink dial at US$36,999 and the 81298 in yellow gold from US$51,799, and pre-owned two-tone Datejust 36 16233 examples from US$8,064, all sourced to order. The Rolex Datejust collection page lists every current size, and our Datejust 41 guide covers the largest version.

Patek Philippe for women: Twenty~4, Nautilus 7118 and Aquanaut Luce

Patek Philippe's dedicated women's line is the Twenty~4, launched in 1999 as a rectangular quartz watch, the 4910, in steel with a diamond-set case, and extended in 2018 with the round 36 mm Twenty~4 Automatic 7300 running the calibre 324 S C. Women who want the Patek sports watch buy the Nautilus 7118/1A, the 35.2 mm automatic that replaced the quartz 7018 in 2019, or the smaller quartz Nautilus 7010 at 32 mm, and the Aquanaut Luce in 38.8 mm with diamonds on the bezel. Steel examples are rationed at retail just as the men's references are. On 25 September 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed a steel Twenty~4 4910/10A with a blue dial and diamond case at US$15,787, a white gold Nautilus 7010G-013 with diamonds at US$81,868, a rose gold Nautilus 7010/1R at US$148,562, and fully pavé-set Nautilus 7118 and Twenty~4 7300 references from US$283,764 to US$535,600, all sourced to order. The Patek Philippe Twenty~4 collection page and Nautilus collection page list the current references; our Patek Philippe price guide covers what the brand asks.

Audemars Piguet for women: Royal Oak 34 and 37

Audemars Piguet does not market a separate ladies' line so much as the Royal Oak in smaller sizes. The Royal Oak 34 mm selfwinding, reference 77350 in steel and 77450 in gold or two-tone, arrived in 2022 with the new calibre 5900 and replaced the quartz 33 mm; it is the size that fits a 15 cm wrist and comes in steel, rose gold, two-tone and with diamond bezels. The Royal Oak 37 mm 15550, launched the same year with the calibre 5900, is the unisex size and the one that has been asked for most since; it carries the same Grande Tapisserie dial as the 41 mm 15510. On 25 September 2026 Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the Royal Oak 34 77450SR in steel and rose gold with a grey dial at US$59,400, the 77450OR in rose gold with a pink dial at US$111,550, the diamond-set 77452OR from US$245,293, and the Royal Oak 37 15550BA in yellow gold at US$120,125, all sourced to order. The Royal Oak collection page shows the current sizes, and our Audemars Piguet price guide covers the rest of the range.

Richard Mille for women: RM 07-01 and RM 037

Richard Mille's women's references keep the tonneau case and the skeletonised automatic movement of the men's line in a shorter, narrower case. The RM 07-01, introduced in 2014, is the core model: about 46 mm long and 31 mm wide in ceramic, carbon TPT, red gold or titanium, with the in-house automatic calibre CRMA2 and a variable-geometry rotor, often with a diamond-set bezel or a lacquered dial. The RM 037 is the larger automatic with a big date and function selector, and the RM 010 and RM 016 are the older unisex references some women wear. Richard Mille produces small numbers and sells through its own boutiques, so most examples on the secondary market are recent and the ask depends heavily on case material. Bizak's catalogue on 25 September 2026 listed men's automatic references such as the RM 030 from US$167,399 in white gold; ladies' references are sourced on request. The RM 07-01 page on richardmille.com lists the current variants, and our Richard Mille price guide explains the price structure.

Diamonds, gold or steel: what holds value?

Steel holds value best in every line because it is the version most buyers want and the one the manufacturers ration. A steel Datejust 31 or Royal Oak 34 can be sold to a dealer at a known band on any day; a steel Nautilus 7118 sells above list. Gold watches trade closer to their metal and movement value and are usually found pre-owned below their retail price, which makes them the value buy for someone who wants to wear the watch rather than trade it. Factory diamonds are worth more than aftermarket diamonds by a wide margin: a Rolex or Patek diamond bezel fitted at the factory is documented on the card and priced as part of the reference, while an aftermarket setting reduces the watch to the value of the base model or below because the original bezel is gone. If a diamond-set watch is offered at a price that looks like the plain version, ask which factory set it. The Sotheby's watch department catalogues show how the market separates factory-set from later-set pieces.

Quartz or automatic in a small watch?

Below about 30 mm the choice is real. Rolex has not made a quartz watch since the Oysterquartz ended, so every Lady-Datejust and Oyster Perpetual is automatic. Patek Philippe keeps quartz in the Twenty~4 4910 and the Nautilus 7010 because a quartz movement lets the case stay thin and the watch run for years without setting, and a Patek quartz movement is finished to the same standard as its automatics. Audemars Piguet moved the Royal Oak 33 from quartz to the 34 mm automatic in 2022. Richard Mille is automatic throughout. For a watch worn daily, automatic is the traditional choice and holds value better; for a jewellery watch worn a few times a month, quartz is more practical because an automatic left in a drawer stops and must be reset each time.

Buying a women's luxury watch: what to check

  • Factory setting. On any diamond-set watch confirm the bezel, dial and case are factory work: the reference on the card should carry the gem-set suffix and the setting should be flush and even under a loupe.
  • Bracelet length. Ladies' watches are often sold with links removed and lost; ask how many links come with the watch, because Rolex and AP gold links are costly to replace.
  • Case edges. Small cases have less metal to lose to polishing; a Royal Oak 34 with soft bevels or a Datejust with rounded lug chamfers has been refinished.
  • Movement service. A calibre 2235 or 2236 that runs fast or slow by more than a few seconds a day needs service; ask for the last service date and receipt.
  • Quartz battery and gaskets. On a Twenty~4 or Nautilus 7010 ask when the battery and gaskets were last changed; a leaking battery is expensive.
  • Card and papers. Rolex warranty cards and Patek certificates cannot be reissued; the full-set premium on a steel Nautilus 7118 is large.
  • Price against the band. A full-set steel Datejust 31 or Nautilus 7118 offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.

Quick answers

What is the best luxury watch for a woman?

The Rolex Datejust in 28, 31 or 36 mm is the most versatile and the most liquid. The Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118 and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 34 or 37 are the sports-luxury alternatives, and the Richard Mille RM 07-01 is the statement piece.

What size watch should a woman wear?

Most wrists of 14 to 16 cm suit 28 to 36 mm; the lug-to-lug length should sit within the wrist. Integrated-bracelet watches such as the Royal Oak and Nautilus wear larger than their diameter suggests.

Does Patek Philippe make a women's watch?

Yes. The Twenty~4 line has a rectangular quartz 4910 and a round 36 mm automatic 7300, and the Nautilus is made in 32 mm quartz (7010) and 35.2 mm automatic (7118) versions, plus the Aquanaut Luce.

Are diamond watches a good investment?

Factory-set diamond references from Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet hold value as part of the reference. Aftermarket diamonds reduce a watch's value to the base model or below, because the original parts are gone.

How much is a Rolex Pearlmaster 34?

Bizak's sourced catalogue listed the Pearlmaster 34 81319 in white gold at US$36,999 and the yellow gold 81298 from US$51,799 to US$53,699 on 25 September 2026, all sourced to order.
