Rolex GMT-Master II 126711CHNR Root Beer in Everose Rolesor with brown and black Cerachrom bezel

The Rolex GMT-Master II 126711CHNR is the two-tone GMT-Master II in Everose Rolesor: an Oystersteel case and bracelet with 18 ct Everose gold on the bezel, crown and centre links, a brown and black Cerachrom bezel, a black dial and the calibre 3285 with 70 hours of power reserve. It was introduced at Baselworld 2018 and is nicknamed the "Root Beer" after the brown and gold GMT-Masters of the 1970s and 1980s. This guide covers the specifications, where the nickname comes from, how the 126711CHNR compares with the full Everose 126715CHNR and the vintage 16753, retail and dealer prices in 2026, and what to check before buying. Bizak & Co. sources the 126711CHNR to order; the GMT-Master II collection lists the configurations we can seek.

Where does the Root Beer nickname come from?

The original Root Beer was the two-tone GMT-Master 1675/3 of the 1970s, with a brown dial and a brown and gold bezel insert; the 16753 continued the look into the 1980s, and both are also called the "Clint Eastwood" because he wore one on screen. Collectors saw the brown and gold combination as the colour of the American soft drink and the name stuck. When Rolex reissued the brown and black bezel in 2018 on Everose gold, first on the 126715CHNR and 126711CHNR, the trade transferred the nickname even though the modern bezel is brown and black rather than brown and gold. Our Rolex nicknames guide covers the rest of the family.

The 126711CHNR is the everyday version: half the price of the full gold watch and lighter on the wrist. The 126715CHNR is the statement piece. The 16753 is a vintage watch with vintage servicing needs and the original brown and gold colours; buy it for the history, not for daily wear.

How does the Root Beer wear?

Everose Rolesor is warmer and quieter than yellow Rolesor: the pink gold reads as brown in most light, which is why the bezel works. At 40 mm and 12 mm thick with a 47 mm lug-to-lug it wears like any steel GMT-Master II, slightly heavier because of the gold centre links. Rolex offers the 126711CHNR on the Oyster bracelet only; there is no Jubilee option in Everose Rolesor. The black dial with rose gold surrounds is legible day and night.

How much is a Rolex Root Beer? Retail and dealer prices in 2026

  • Retail. Rolex's US list price for the Everose Rolesor GMT-Master II has sat in the high US$17,000s in 2026; the current figure is on the Rolex product page linked above. Two-tone GMTs are easier to obtain at authorised dealers than the steel models, though a wait is still normal.
  • Secondary market. In 2025 and 2026, full-set 126711CHNR examples have generally been asked in the mid-to-high US$10,000s pre-owned and at or above retail unworn, a smaller premium than any steel GMT.
  • Bizak catalogue asks. On 12 September 2026 our sourced catalogue listed a brand-new 126711CHNR at US$21,527 and a pre-owned full set at US$17,669, both sourced to order.

Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote for the exact year, condition and card; our Rolex price guide explains how to compare quotes.

Is the 126711CHNR a good investment?

Two-tone Rolex sports watches trade closer to retail than steel ones, so the Root Beer offers less upside and less downside than a Pepsi or Batman. A pre-owned full set bought near the market should return most of its price for years, and the gold content gives it a floor that steel watches lack. Buy it because you like the colour; if resale matters, ask for a written cash-buy assessment before you commit.

Buying a used 126711CHNR: what to check

  • Warranty card. Card serial and rehaut engraving should match; Rolex does not reissue cards.
  • Bezel. The brown and black insert should be chip-free and turn in 24 firm clicks both ways; the Everose numerals should be evenly coated, not worn through.
  • Gold surfaces. Everose centre links and the bezel scratch more readily than steel; deep scratches or thinned polished edges mean heavy wear or polishing.
  • GMT function. The 12-hour hand should jump in one-hour steps independently of the 24-hour hand from the first crown position.
  • Dial. A 126711CHNR dial reads "GMT-Master II" with "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" and has Everose hands and surrounds; steel hands mean swapped parts.
  • Bracelet stretch. Check that the links do not sag when the watch is held sideways; the gold centre links wear faster than steel.
  • Price against the band. A full-set Root Beer offered well under the market is the single most reliable warning sign.
