Rolex Daytona Buying Guide: Every Current Model, Dial Colour and Price

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 126500LN in Oystersteel with the white dial, black counter rings and black Cerachrom bezel, on an Oyster bracelet

Short answer: For most buyers the best Rolex Daytona is the steel 126500LN ($16,900 at Rolex list) or one of the three ceramic-bezel gold models on an Oysterflex bracelet: the yellow gold 126518LN, Everose 126515LN or white gold 126519LN ($42,700 to $44,800). On October 19, 2026 Bizak's asks for a new 126500LN started at $33,990, about twice list, and for a new gold Oysterflex model at $39,524, below list. Every 2026 Daytona is 40 mm with calibre 4131, so the real choice is metal, dial and bracelet.

Which Rolex Daytona should you buy?

Rolex's 2026 US catalog lists 47 Daytona models: nine core references and seven gem-set ones. All share the 40 mm Oyster case and calibre 4131, so the choice comes down to these trade-offs:

  • Best all-rounder: steel 126500LN. Black Cerachrom ceramic bezel, Oyster bracelet, white or black dial. It costs the most relative to list: from $33,990 new with the black dial and $39,600 with the white dial collectors call the Panda.
  • Best value in gold: the Oysterflex trio. A solid 18 kt gold case for $5,534 to $5,999 more than the lowest new steel ask: 126518LN from $39,524, 126515LN from $39,989 and 126519LN from $39,989.
  • Lowest price for a current model: two-tone 126503. Oystersteel and yellow gold with a gold bezel, from $24,179 new against $24,550 list.
  • Best on a gold bracelet: 126508, 126509 or 126505. Gold Oyster bracelet and a gold bezel with an engraved scale, $55,200 to $59,100 list; asks start about $10,000 below: $45,012 in yellow gold, $48,174 in white gold, $49,289 in Everose.

Colour dials cost far more than the standard ones on the secondary market. On October 19 Bizak asked $111,599 for the turquoise 126518LN (list $42,700), whose lacquer dial Rolex introduced in 2025, $77,189 for the bright green 126508 (list $55,200) and $64,350 for the bright blue 126509 (list $59,100). Meteorite and Sundust dials have their own guides: Daytona meteorite dial and Rolex Sundust dial.

Oyster bracelet or Oysterflex?

  • Oyster bracelet (126500LN, 126503, 126508, 126509, 126505, 126506): three-piece metal links, an Oysterlock clasp and an Easylink link that adds about 5 mm. On gold and platinum versions Rolex fits ceramic inserts inside the links. The gold-bracelet models have a bezel in the case metal with an engraved tachymetric scale.
  • Oysterflex (126518LN, 126515LN, 126519LN and four gem-set models): two flexible metal blades overmoulded with black elastomer, an Oysterlock clasp and a Glidelock system that adjusts the length in six steps of about 2.5 mm, up to some 15 mm, without tools. The three core models pair it with a black Cerachrom bezel; Rolex added the Oysterflex to the gold Daytona in 2017.

At list the gold-bracelet version costs $12,500 more in yellow gold (126508 against 126518LN) and $14,300 more in white gold or Everose; on Bizak's October 19 asks the gap was $5,488 to $9,300. Our Rolex Oysterflex guide covers fit and the other models that use it.

Current 4131 or the earlier 4130 Daytona?

In 2023 Rolex redesigned the Daytona's dial and case, edged the Cerachrom bezel in the case metal and introduced calibre 4131, with the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers and a cut-out rotor. The previous references, such as the 116500LN, 116520, 116523 and 116518LN, use calibre 4130, which Rolex unveiled in 2000, and cost less: Bizak's October 19 asks started at $17,669 for a pre-owned two-tone 116523. Our 126500LN guide compares the two steel generations.

Checks before you commit

  • Confirm the generation: a 1265xx reference means calibre 4131 and the 2023 case, and asks for the two generations overlap.
  • Match the dial to a Rolex model: several dials share one reference and list price, so compare photos of the specific watch with the dial name.
  • Papers: Rolex's international guarantee runs five years, so check the date on the warranty card of the watch you are offered.
