The Rolex GMT-Master II 116710LN is the prior-generation steel GMT-Master II with an all-black Cerachrom bezel and a black dial, made from 2007 to 2019. It is not the blue-and-black 116710BLNR and it is not a current 126710; because Rolex stopped making it, every example today is pre-owned. This guide covers the specifications, what to check on a used example, how the 116710LN differs from the 116710BLNR and the current 126710 family, why anyone would buy a discontinued GMT, what Bizak's sourced catalogue listed on October 1, 2026, and the buying checks that matter most. Bizak & Co. sources the 116710LN to order; the GMT-Master II collection lists the configurations we can seek.

What is the Rolex GMT-Master II 116710LN?
It is a 40 mm Oystersteel GMT-Master II with a black Cerachrom 24-hour bezel, a black dial and an Oyster bracelet. When it arrived at Baselworld in 2007 it replaced the aluminium-bezel 16710 and gave the GMT-Master II a heavier case with thicker lugs and crown guards. The independently adjustable hour hand and the 24-hour hand let it show a second time zone; with the rotating 24-hour bezel it can show a third. Our Batman 126710BLNR guide explains how a modern two-colour GMT reads.
Because the bezel is the whole visual difference between a 116710LN and a 116710BLNR, a black bezel on a 116710 means 116710LN and a blue-and-black bezel means 116710BLNR. The 116710LN has no widely used nickname; some listings attach names we cannot verify, so this guide uses the reference.
What should you check on a pre-owned 116710LN?
- Bezel colour. Ask for photographs. The bezel is all black; blue and black is a 116710BLNR.
- Reference. The warranty card, if present, should read 116710LN, not 116710BLNR and not a 126710 reference.
- Card date and serial. Any remaining Rolex warranty depends on the card date; the serial on the card should match the watch, whether it is engraved between the lugs or on the rehaut.
- Bezel action. The bezel should turn both ways with even clicks and no slack.
- Bracelet stretch. Hold the watch by the clasp; a bracelet that sags into a curve has worn pins and links.
- Clasp. It should close firmly and sit flat on the wrist.
- Service history. Ask what was serviced, when and by whom; budget for a service if there is no record.
- Timekeeping. Ask for a recent timing result for the 3186, which should run within a few seconds a day.
- Price and timing. It is sourced to order, so confirm timing and the final price before you pay the balance.

116710LN vs 116710BLNR: what is the difference?
| 116710LN | 116710BLNR | |
|---|---|---|
| Bezel | Black Cerachrom | Blue-and-black Cerachrom |
| Bracelet | Oyster | Oyster only |
| Production | 2007 to 2019 | 2013 to 2019 |
| Best for | One-colour restraint | A two-colour bezel |
| Guide | This page | Batman guide |
Both are steel GMT-Master IIs of the same generation, with the same case and the same calibre family; the bezel is the point of difference. The blue-and-black 116710BLNR is the model that took the Batman nickname once it appeared in 2013, and the current 126710BLNR continues the colour scheme.
116710LN vs the current 126710 GMT-Masters: what changed?
| Reference | Bezel | Generation | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|---|
| 116710LN | Black | Prior (2007 to 2019) | This page |
| 126710BLNR | Blue and black | Current, calibre 3285 | Batman guide |
| 126710GRNR | Grey and black | Current, calibre 3285 | Bruce Wayne guide |
| 126711CHNR | Brown and black, Everose Rolesor | Current, calibre 3285 | Root Beer guide |
| 126720VTNR | Green and black, crown on the left | Current, calibre 3285 | Sprite guide |
The generation change is the movement: the current 126710 models use the calibre 3285 with about 70 hours of reserve and the Chronergy escapement, where the 116710LN uses the calibre 3186 with about 48 hours. All are 40 mm steel except the Root Beer. We make no claim about which watch, if any, replaced the 116710LN as Rolex's all-black GMT.
Why buy a discontinued GMT-Master II?
Because you want a one-colour ceramic GMT and do not mind buying pre-owned. That is the whole case. The costs are real: it is pre-owned only, it runs the previous-generation movement and any remaining Rolex warranty depends on the card date. Against that, the black bezel is quieter than every two-colour bezel in the table above, which is either the point or the problem. Our own warranty on watches we deliver, covering manufacturing defects that affect mechanical operation, begins on delivery.
How does the 116710LN wear?
At 40 mm with the heavier case Rolex introduced in 2007, the 116710LN sits solidly on the wrist without being tall: the crown guards and lugs give it presence, and the Oyster bracelet balances the head. The all-black bezel and dial make it look smaller and more tool-like than the two-colour models, which suits a plain steel watch worn daily. Because the bezel is ceramic, it keeps its black through years of wear, and the main signs of use are on the case sides, the clasp and the bracelet.
If you want a watch that photographs as a quiet black GMT and reads well at night, this is that watch. If you want the larger spread of colour and the newer movement, look at the current references in the table above.
How much is a Rolex GMT-Master II 116710LN in 2026?
- Retail. Not applicable: the 116710LN is discontinued, so there is no current Rolex list price. The current replacements are priced on Rolex's GMT-Master II page.
- Bizak catalogue asks. On October 1, 2026 our sourced catalogue listed three pre-owned 116710LN watches: SKU 116710LN at US$13,695, SKU 116710LN1 at US$11,159 and SKU 116710LN12 at US$12,089, all sourced to order.
- What moves the price. Year, the warranty card, the condition of the bezel and bracelet, and whether the watch comes with box and papers.
Those figures describe what we saw and will move. Ask for a dated quote on the exact watch and see our Rolex price guide for how to compare quotes. Listings sit in the GMT watches collection alongside the current models.
