The last three rows are no longer in Patek’s catalogue and are described as our listings show them. In our prices the white gold premium is far smaller than at retail: at Patek the white gold 5168G-001 costs more than twice the steel 5167A-001 ($57,890 against $27,257), while on Bizak the gap is $99,626 against $77,115. The blue white gold 5968G-001 chronograph is even listed below the steel 5968A-001, at $135,558 against $154,000, the reverse of Patek’s retail order ($88,898 and $61,766).
Blue or blue-gray: how the dials differ
Patek describes three dials as blue with a black-gradient rim, each paired with a midnight blue strap: the 5168G-001, the 5968G-001 and the steel 5167A-014, which adds a sunburst finish, a red minute track and a red sweep seconds hand. Patek’s 2017 launch release for the 5168G calls the color night blue, shading from bright at the center to black at the edge. The 5164G-001, 5269R-001 and 5261R-001 are blue-gray, opaline on the two Travel Time models, each on a matching blue-gray strap: a softer, grayer shade. Light changes how both look in photographs, so compare any watch with Patek’s own images of its reference. Our blue dial Patek Philippe page covers blue Nautilus and Calatrava models too.
Blue Aquanauts, year by year
-
2017: the 5168G-001, Patek’s first men’s Aquanaut in 18K white gold and, at 42.2 mm, the largest Aquanaut at its launch; its size pays tribute to the 1976 Nautilus nicknamed “Jumbo”, and Patek’s launch release calls the 5168G “Jumbo” too. The same year Patek made 500 of the 5650G Aquanaut Travel Time “Advanced Research”, with a Spiromax balance spring and a compliant, flexible time-zone mechanism.
-
2021: the 5968G-001, the first white gold version of the Aquanaut flyback chronograph, in blue, with the khaki green 5968G-010.
-
2023: the 5261R-001, the first annual calendar in the Aquanaut collection, in rose gold with a blue-gray dial.
-
2024: three at Watches & Wonders: the 5164G-001, the first white gold 5164 Travel Time; the rose gold quartz 5269R-001 Travel Time; and the 5268/461G-001 set with blue sapphires.
-
October 2026: the steel 5167A-014, 250 pieces made for Patek’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Milan, with “Patek Philippe Milano 2026” printed on its sapphire case back.

The rest of Patek’s current Aquanaut catalogue, plus the earlier references we list most often, with the same two prices. Patek sells through authorized retailers, and its website says its watches are made in limited volumes and that a model shown there is not a guarantee of availability. Second-hand prices move. In our Q2 2026 wholesale report, built from dealer-to-dealer asking prices rather than completed sales, the rose gold 5167R-001 had the biggest slide of any watch in the report: its median ask fell 15.1%, from $111,500 to $94,686, between April and June 2026. Our Aquanaut prices by reference guide and Patek Philippe price checker follow more references.
Steel Aquanauts
The Aquanaut began in steel. Patek presented the 5060A at the 1997 Basel fair with a simpler three-part case than the Nautilus, still water-resistant to 120 m, and a composite strap in place of a steel bracelet, which Patek says was extremely difficult to produce and finish. Today’s steel models are the black 5167A-001, the 5968A-001 chronograph, the limited blue 5167A-014 and the quartz Aquanaut Luce 5267/200A. Patek no longer lists the 5167/1A-001 on a steel bracelet or the 5164A-001 Travel Time; on Bizak they start at $88,000 and $97,460. Earlier steel Aquanauts cost less: the 5060A-001 from $39,524, the 5065/1A-001 on a bracelet from $44,639, the 5066A-001 from $34,409 and the quartz 5064A-001 from $25,946, the lowest-priced Aquanaut on this page. Every steel model is on our steel Aquanaut page.
Diamond and white dial Aquanauts: the Aquanaut Luce
Patek introduced the Aquanaut Luce for women in 2004, with a diamond-set bezel; luce is Italian for light. Today’s steel 5267/200A has 48 diamonds (1.17 ct) on the bezel, a quartz movement and a black, matte white or khaki green dial ($24,632 at Patek US retail; on Bizak from $77,146). The rose gold 5268/200R-010 has the same 48 diamonds with a self-winding movement and a taupe dial ($63,516; from $124,938). Above them sit the Joaillerie 5072R-001, with 40 baguette diamonds (2.9 ct) on the bezel and a two-tone beige mother-of-pearl dial, the 7968/300R-001 “Rainbow”, Patek’s first self-winding chronograph for women, set with multicolored sapphires and diamonds, and the 5268/461G-001 with blue sapphires. For men, our listings include a rose gold 5167/300R-010 with a diamond-set bezel, from $316,199; the ladies’ rose gold 5062/450R-001 adds a diamond pavé dial, from $419,724.
For a white dial, Patek’s current choices are the matte white 5267/200A-010 ($110,250 on Bizak) and the white mother-of-pearl 7968/300R-001; no men’s Aquanaut in Patek’s current catalogue has a white dial. Earlier white-dial Aquanauts on our listings, each with a diamond-set bezel, start at $48,074 for a steel 5067A-024 and include the rose gold 5068R-010 from $55,799, the white gold 5069G-011 from $75,609 and the rose gold 5268/200R-001 from $153,676. Compare them on our diamond bezel Patek Philippe, white dial Patek Philippe and ladies’ Aquanaut pages.
Which Aquanaut to buy
-
5167 or 5168. The 5167 is the 40.8 mm date model, 8.1 mm thick, in steel with a black dial (blue on the limited 5167A-014) or rose gold with a brown one; the 5168G is the 42.2 mm white gold version, 8.25 mm thick, in blue or khaki green. Both use the self-winding calibre 26-330 S C on Patek’s current pages. Our Aquanaut 5167 guide and 5167 page go further.
-
Date, Travel Time or chronograph. The 5164 Travel Time shows home time with a skeletonized hand and local time with a solid one, with day/night apertures for both, a date that follows local time and pushers at 9 o’clock to set local time. The 5968 is a flyback chronograph with a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock and is 11.9 mm thick. Compare them on our Aquanaut Travel Time and Aquanaut chronograph pages.
-
Self-winding or quartz. The steel 5267/200A and the rose gold 5269R-001 use Patek’s E23-250 quartz movement, with a battery Patek rates at about three years, behind a solid case back; the other current Aquanauts are self-winding, with sapphire case backs.
-
The strap. Every current Aquanaut is on Patek’s composite strap, embossed with the Aquanaut pattern, which Patek calls ultra-resistant to wear, salt water and UV radiation. The 5968A-001 comes with a black strap fitted and an orange one as a spare; see our Aquanaut orange strap guide, and our Patek Philippe rubber strap page for other models on composite and rubber straps.
What to check before you pay the balance
-
The reference and the dial. Match the reference on the Certificate of Origin to the watch, and the dial to the reference: blue with a black-gradient rim on the 5168G-001 and 5968G-001, blue-gray on the 5164G-001, 5261R-001 and 5269R-001. Our Patek Philippe serial number guide explains the case and movement numbers.
-
The calibre for the year. Patek’s 2017 launch release gives the 5168G calibre 324 S C; its current page lists calibre 26-330 S C. Either can be right, so check that the movement fits the watch’s date and papers.
-
Limited editions. A 5167A-014 should have a midnight blue strap and “Patek Philippe Milano 2026” on its sapphire case back. The 5650G was made in 500 pieces.
-
Strap and clasp. Look for cuts and wear on the composite strap and check the fold-over clasp; on a 5968A-001, confirm the second, orange strap is included.

What is the Aquanaut Travel Time?
The 5164, a 40.8 mm Aquanaut with a second time zone: a skeletonized hand shows home time and a solid hand local time, with day/night apertures for both, a date at 6 o’clock tied to local time and pushers at 9 o’clock to change local time. Patek makes it in rose gold (5164R-001, brown) and white gold (5164G-001, blue-gray), both $71,643 at US retail. The steel 5164A-001 is no longer listed by Patek and starts at $97,460 on Bizak.
Nautilus or Aquanaut: what is the difference?
The Nautilus came first, in 1976. Patek presented the Aquanaut in 1997 as a younger, sportier watch with a simpler three-part case, still water-resistant to 120 m, and a composite strap instead of the Nautilus’s steel bracelet; its rounded octagonal bezel echoes the Nautilus. Our Nautilus vs Aquanaut guide compares the models and prices.
Which Aquanaut models have diamonds?
The Aquanaut Luce, introduced in 2004 with a diamond-set bezel. Today’s steel 5267/200A and rose gold 5268/200R-010 each set 48 diamonds (1.17 ct) on the bezel, the 5072R-001 has 40 baguette diamonds (2.9 ct) on its bezel, the 7968/300R-001 mixes baguette diamonds and multicolored sapphires, and the 5268/461G-001 is set with diamonds and blue sapphires. On Bizak, Aquanauts with a diamond-set bezel start at $37,106.

Earlier white-dial models with diamond-set bezels start at $48,074 on Bizak. No men’s Aquanaut in Patek’s current catalogue has a white dial.
What sizes does the Aquanaut come in?
In Patek’s current catalogue, measured from 10 to 4 o’clock: 42.2 mm (5168G and the 5968 chronograph), 40.8 mm (5167 and the 5164 Travel Time), 39.9 mm (5261R and 7968/300R), 38.8 mm (Aquanaut Luce 5267, 5268 and 5269) and 35.6 mm (5072R).
